May 10, 2011 Mr. Terry Belamy Interim Director 55 M Street, SE, Suite 400 Washington, DC 20003 Re: Capital Bikeshare Station Upshur Street and Georgia Avenue Dear Mr. Belamy, At a properly noticed and with a quorum present at the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 4C meeting on May 10, 2011, a motion was presented by Commissioner Robert H. Mandle, seconded and passed to support the proposed Capital Bikeshare Station in the vicinity of the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Upshur Street NW and recommend its placement at the southeastern corner of the intersection. The ANC 4C Commission concluded that this station would represent an ideal location given the heavy usage of the Petworth/New Hampshire Avenue Capital Bikeshare station, the heavy concentration of Capital Bikeshare memberships in the immediate area, and the proximity to the Metro. Furthermore, the ANC 4C Commission notes that the station would yield economic benefits for the retail corridor located on the 800 block of Upshur Street and other surrounding businesses. The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) is also strongly encouraged to identify and install additional stations within Ward 4 that can provide similar access and economic benefit.
