IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

MAY
12 K-12 Dance Recital @ 3pm, Fine Arts Theatre

Too often we are pre-\occupied with the destination and lose sight of the journey. This morning in assembly we read the book from which the quote above is taken. At this time of year, with many of us starting to think about new grade levels, new classes and even new schools and countries, it is poignant for us all to press pause as we often do in our classrooms, and take a moment to enjoy the here and now. Transition is a challenge for us all and one that we all experience at various stages in our life. At ISM, we are extremely cognizant of our context and want to support all our students, parents and teachers as they transition from one year to the next. Equally, we dont want school to be viewed as a race to the end, but rather a journey that should be savored at every interval. We hope that as a community we can all enjoy the next three weeks together and celebrate what has been achieved this year, how we have supported each other within our learning communities and also take a moment to reflect on our journeys thus far.

Dear Elementary School Parents, Is There Really a Human Race Sometimes its better not to go fast. There are beautiful sights to be seen when youre last. Shouldnt it be that you just try your best? And thats more important than beating the rest? Shouldnt it be looking back at the end that you judge your own race by the help that you lend? (Jamie Lee Curtis & Laura Cornell, 2006)

PLEASE HELP US BUY A TETHERBALL FOR PCF!! In Grade 4, weve been learning about Child Rights and we want to help uphold other childrens right to play. We collaborated with PCF School in Tondo this year and when we visited them, we found out that they play on their rooftop and the soccer balls keep falling into the Pasig River. We are trying to raise enough money to buy PCF school a tetherball. To do this, we wrote a book of poetry. We will be selling our book on May 14th - 16th outside the Middle School Cafeteria from 10.00 10.30 and 12.00 12.20. It only costs 150Php. PLEASE SUPPORT THE ADORABLE MONSTERS (Grade 4 Walshe)! THANK YOU!

thrilled to report that more than 60 participants have signed up and auditioned for this special

Since the launch at the beginning of the school year the ATAC blog has to date received over 25,ooo visits and has provided valuable up to date information for ISM students/ parents in a wide variety of ATAC program areas. We are constantly updating the blog to provide current information and in our quest to do so you will notice a new twitter service now available. Tweets from ISManilaAD will be posted for important ISM information/updates related to the ATAC program. This service will be especially relevant to HS students/parents who are heavily involved in our program and who may travel frequently with school teams. If buses or flights are delayed a tweet can be posted to inform parents and to allow them to keep updated if events like this occur. If you are a regular IASAS host family this service may be of use as tweets will be posted if arriving teams have been delayed at the airport and pick up times are affected. You can view tweets on the blog home page and also by subscribing to twitter/setting up an account you can follow ISManilaAD by clicking on the follow me button at the blog home page and you can receive updates directly to your cell phone to keep updated on the go with all the Bearcats action! During IASAS weeks score updates/results and medal performances will also be posted! ISM Summer Camps: please register asap if you are planning on taking any of our summer sports slots for camps are filling up fasthttp://atac.ism-online.org/ atac/atac-summer-sports-camps/ Exciting developments for next school year: In our quest to ensure ISM maintains and keeps improving the wonderful sports facilities we have it gives me great pleasure to advise that work has already started on the new roof top tennis court project and that work will be starting in late May on resurfacing our track. The tennis court redevelopment is a large scale project which when completed in mid/late October will provide a fully covered facility for tennis and PE classes with the addition of two courts (currently 6 to 8 courts), along with male/female locker rooms, extra storage space for equipment, roll away tennis nets, a small office and two areas of spectator bleachers. Our athletics track will be resurfaced and the jumps 8 runway/landing pit area will be relocated slightly to improve this facility. ISM hosts IASAS Tennis and Track & Field next school year and these improvements will ensure we have the best facilities possible to host the IASAS Championships in 2013 and for our students/teams to use for their PE classes and team training on a day to day basis during the school year. ATAC Events coming up: May 12th Aikido and Judo meet Gymnastic area/Covered Court. May 22nd ISM Homeless World Cup Football Tournament 3-5pm See Ms Vogt to pay/register your team. Open to MS/HS students. Funds raised help support the Philippines Homeless World Cup team to travel to Mexico City to compete.
