H.E. Anil Wadhwa - Ambassador of India to Kingdom of Thailand My experiences as a diplomat

His Excellency Anil Wadhwa, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand, added a delightful flavor to our annual Indian Extravaganza Buffet and Ladies Day at the Rembrandt Hotels Rang Mahal Indian Restaurant. Speaking to an almost capacity venue, His Excellency took us on a journey of reminiscences through the countries he has served in and the various organizations he has worked with during his diplomatic career. While he did not share actual diplomatic experiences, he provided us with an interesting insight into the experiences gained from moving from country to country every three years. In particular, it was interesting to hear him share his experiences, coming from India and its 1.2 billion population to sparsely populated countries where he learned that sometimes finding directions was not the problem, rather the problem was simply finding someone he could ask. Mentioning a few countries, his theme about contrasts between India and the countries he has been in, reflected his keen awareness and, I would imagine, delight in coming to know his new posting and offered a further insight into why his career has taken him around the world. It was also fascinating to hear him talk about the start to his diplomatic career and the fact his parents wanted him to remain closer to home, a sentiment I am sure many of us have experienced with our parents. However, he was quick to add that over the years his parents have come to enjoy visiting him at his different postings, which I would imagine, could offer many more interesting vignettes. An enjoyable insight into what a diplomatic career entails, His Excellencys love for both his country and his chosen career, were abundantly clear and added to the days festivities...

RCBS 50 YEAR HISTORY BUY YOUR COPY NOW

At its monthly meeting for February 2012, the RCBS Board agreed all members who did not sponsor the publication (and who have therefore automatically received a copy) should purchase a copy of our 50year history, at a cost of THB 1,000 per copy. PP Maarten Worp and his Club History Committee have worked diligently to produce this book, which has been well received by those who have obtained a copy to date. Endorsements to date include PRIP Bhichai Rattakul and IPP Andrew MacPherson. If you have not already done so, please purchase your copy from Khun Khob now! Yours in Rotary Mark Butters President Rotary Club of Bangkok South 2011/2012 Dear President Mark, Thank you very much for sending me a copy of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South-50 Year History. I spent the whole day yesterday reading page by page, and got to almost the last page from which an interview of Khun Prakai was made, and then finally to the last page Bangkok Souths Irreverent Fellowship! After 50 years, Bangkok South remains the best fellowship club in the country and for that matter including the old district 330. The only sad thing about the book is that I MISSED all those friends who had left us. We dont see any more of Pat Layton, Red Underhill, Ken Page, Vudhi, Walter Meyer, Pichit, Boon Song, etc. I do, however, hear once a year from Murray Folkner. It was a well complied of the history of your club, and I wish to extend to you my heartfelt congratulations for all the good work the Rotarians of Bangkok South have been doing all along these 50 years. Keep up the good work! Keep u the excellent fellowship of your club! Yours sincerely, Bhichai Rattakul

Dear PP Maarten Last Wednesday I received my copy of our Clubs 50 Year History book. I finally managed to find time to go through it in detail last Friday evening and I have to compliment you and your fellow History Committee members for producing this excellent publication. Well done everyone! Thanks Yours in Rotary Andrew Andrew MacPherson
