Political Science - Traditional and Contemporary Perspective. Concepts - Sovereignty, Liberty, Equality, Justice, Democracy, Elites. Behaviouralism and Post-behaviouralism, System's approach, structural - functional approach, Political Development, Political Modernization, Political culture. Theories of representation, political parties, Pressure Groups, Public Opinion. Organs of Government - Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. Globalization and its impact on the role of State.

2. Political Thought
Manu, Kautilya, Shukra, Ram Mohan Roy, Dayanand Saraswati, Gopal Krishna Gokhle, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Aurbindo Ghosh, Bhimrao Ambedkar, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Jai Prakash Narain. Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Machiavelli, Bantham, J.S.Mill, Karl Marx.

3. Indian Government and politics


Philosophical Bases of the Constitution of India - Preamble. Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, Fundamental Duties. Federalism, Union-State Relations. Union Executive - President, Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. Parliament - Composition, Powers and Role. Judiciary - Supreme Court and High Courts, Judicial Review and Judicial Activism. States - The Executive : Governor, Chief Minister and Council of Ministers. The State Legislative - Composition, Powers and Role. Amendment of the Constitution, Cast Religion and Language in Indian Politics. Panchayat Raj (With special reference to Rajasthan) Public Services and Public Service Commissions. Election and Electoral Reforms. President's Rule and its politics. Party system in India, Pressure Groups in India, Politics of Defection, Coalition Politics.

4. International Politics
Idealistic and Realistic approaches, National Power, National Interest. Foreign Policy of India, India and her Neighbours. Emerging trends in International Politics. U.S.A. and World. United Nations : Role and Relevance. Issue of Nuclear Non-prolification. Non-alignment movement : Changing Role and Relevance.

5. Public Administration
Meaning, Nature and Scope of Public Administration, New Public Administration, Theories of Organization (Classical, Scientific, Human Relations.), Bureaucracy, Good Governance. ---------Note :- Pattern of Question Paper 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Objective type paper Maximum Marks : 100 Number of Questions : 100 Duration of Paper : Two Hours All questions carry equal marks. There will be Negative Marking.
