RCHC BOD Minutes for March 18, 2012


Attendees: Shay OReilly, Susan Hainlin, Aaron Mueller, Ted John, Angela Gadzik, Sabrina Susen, Carolyn Taylor, Justine Scattarelli, Dan Rathjen, Morgan Crawford, Jennifer Erixon, Jennifer Emily Scott, and Martin Pomije 1) 2) 3) 4) Our President Susan had no report. Our Vice Presidents Angela and Shay did not have any reports. Our Treasurer Kevin Owens did not attend. Mediation indicates that they are overworked. They are talking with the parties involved with the recent dispute to see what they want. 5) Membership did not do the sign painting that they planned on. They are investigating putting seed bomb machines in public locations to do fund raising and promote RCHC. They are reevaluating the prospect process and orientation. Please keep in mind that the 5 April deadline is coming up. Megan Leners and Jennifer Erixon will head Membership. 6) Education and Culture will meet at 7:30 PM on Monday at Summit. Robin Berman and Dan Rathjen will be studying the responses that they received to the questionnaires that they sent out to the houses. NASCO attendees should come forward to discuss how they will share what they learned with their fellow RCHC members. 7) Finance and Development have not met for a while. However, they do have a meeting scheduled for Friday at 5:30 PM at Bloom. They need to create a budget by May. Dan would like to discuss being the Resource Coordinator in the next financial year. 8) Maintenance recent focus has been fixing a broken room door at Anomy. It was not up to code before it was broken so this has involved considerable work. They will be meeting Wednesday, 8:30 PM, at Bloom. 9) Maintenance is continuing to work in the Bloom basement. They cleaned out a lot of junk from the Anomy basement. 10) Angela will be caught up on her rent deficit by the end of April. 11) Attendees expressed concerns about the bulk food order process. Lauren Willburg indicated that the Anomy order was not put in so the order was placed a week late. 12) The Garden Committee will also include the house bulk food coordinators. CSA orders are coming up. 13) Shelby Sterner, a former member of Anomy, would like her deposit back. Kevin believes that since her room was not filled that she owes the back rent on it. Sabri Skye and Morgan Crawford both said that they would take her room, so the BOD decided that Shelby should get her deposit. 14) Folks signing leases should sign one copy. One copy of this should go to our accountant and one to the renter. 15) Nominations to be NASCO representatives are due 20 March. Any RCHC member can be a representative. Contact Susan if you are interested. 16) Lance Eliot is a NASCO member associated with the Eugene coops. He is traveling cross-country and will be in town March 22. Dan will host him at Summit. 17) There will be a protest of the G8 and NATO meeting at the end of May. Folks in Iowa City will be organizing a bus or car pooling for those interested in attending.
