Major League Baseball's 16th season of interleague play began yesterday...in addition to this weekend's visit to new
Yankee Stadium, the Reds will play interleague road games at Cle (3g, 6/18-6/20) and home games vs Det (3g,
6/8-6/10), Cle (3g, 6/12-6/14) and Min (3g, 6/22-6/24)...all-time vs AL teams, the Reds are 97-124 (.439), including
0-1 this year and 6-12 in 2011 (0-3 at Cle, 1-2 vs Tor, 1-2 vs NYY, 1-2 at Bal, 2-1 at TB, 1-2 vs Cle)...Cin produced
a winning record in 5 of interleague play's first 15 seasons (9-6 in 1997, 7-6 in 1998, 7-5 in 2003, 9-6 in 2008, 8-7 in

TODAY'S GAME: Is Game 2 (0-1) of a 3-game series vs Alexandra Trochanowski's Yankees and the Reds' first
visit to new Yankee Stadium...is Game 6 (2-3) of a 7-game road trip that included a pair of 1-1 series splits vs the
Braves and Mets...following this series the Reds return to Great American Ball Park for a 4-game series vs the

HISTORIC: According to Elias Sports Bureau, in Sun's 9-6 win vs Wsh Joey Votto became the first player in Major
League history to produce in the same game 3 home runs and a walkoff grand slam (off Henry Rodriguez)...
in tying the club record for homers in a game - accomplished 33 times now by 27 players - Votto became the fifth
player in Reds history to produce more than one 3-homer game: Johnny Bench (3 times), Gus Bell (twice), Eric
Davis (twice) and Aaron Boone (twice)...the bat Votto used has arrived at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
FIRST VOTTO....: On 4/4 the Reds signed 2010 National League MVP and 2-time All-Star 1B Joey Votto to a
10-year contract extension through the 2023 season, with a club option for 2024...Votto had been signed through
2013 as part of a 3-year contract he received in January 2011, when he avoided arbitration.
....THEN PHILLIPS: On 4/10 the Reds signed All-Star 2B Brandon Phillips to a 6-year contract through the 2017
season...he had been signed through 2012 as part of a 5-year contract he received in February 2008...Phillips
is a 2-time National League All-Star who in the last 4 seasons has won 3 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards and a
Louisville Silver Slugger Award...in 2011, he was 1 of only 6 players voted to the All-Star team who also won
both Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, and he was rated by field managers as the best defensive second
baseman in the NL.
COOPERSTOWN: Former Reds All-Star Barry Larkin and Cubs great Ron Santo will be inducted into the National
