Wired Transmission
A type of LAN technology which is based on a special type of cable which is used to transfer data The maximum data transfer rate of this technology is 10 Mbps The cables used to configure the network are special.Examples are Ethernet and wired LAN.
Wireless Transmission
Wireless communication uses radio frequencies(RF) or infrared(IR) waves to transmit data between devices on LAN Key components are a wireless hub,or access point used for signal distribution Wireless signals are electromagnetic waves that can travel through a vacuum of outer space.
callers until the circuit is released and a new connection is set up. Even if no actual communication is taking place, the channel remains reserved and protected from competing users. Virtual circuit switching is a packet switching technology that emulates circuit switching, in the sense that the connection is established before any packets are transferred, and packets are delivered in order. While circuit switching is commonly used for connecting voice circuits, the concept of a dedicated path persisting between two communicating parties or nodes can be extended to signal content other than voice. Its advantage is that it provides for continuous transfer without the overhead associated with packets making maximal use of available bandwidth for that communication. The disadvantage is the greater operational cost associated with the quality of service guarantees afforded by reserving bandwidth and keeping it protected from competing uses.
5) Formation of communities Internet helps in formation of communities or forums. Here a number of people can participate in different types of debates and discussions, express their views and gather valuable knowledge. 6) Services A variety of services are offered via Internet, for example job searching, online banking, buying movie tickets, hotel reservations and consultation services etc. When you avail these services offline, they become more expensive. Disadvantages: 1)Spamming: Spamming denotes distribution of unsolicited e-mails in large numbers. They are meaningless and they unnecessarily block the whole system. These activities are treated as illegal. 2) Theft of personal details While using the Internet, there is high probability that your personal details like name, address and credit card number may be accessed by con artists and used for fraudulent purposes. 3) Pornography: Pornography is definitely harmful for your children. There are numerous pornographic sites available over the Internet and watching any of those can have very bad influence on the mental health of your children.
