NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The City of Atlanta Charter Review Commission (CRC) will hold the last round of public hearings to receive public comments on proposed revisions to the City Charter and the Board of Education and related legislation. DATE: TIME: PLACE: Thursday, October 19, 1995 6:00 p.m, North Atlanta High School - Lecture HaD 2875 Northside Drive, N.W.

One of the major issues before the CRC is reducing the size of the current 18-member Atlanta City Council. The preliminary recommendation of the CRC is a minimal reduction to 14 members. However, there are many citizens who believe that city residents could be well served by reducing the number of council members to nine. In order to have a voice in this important issue that will affect Atlanta citizens for many years to come, the public should speak out at the October 19 hearing. The Atlanta City Charter has not been revised since 1973. The mission of the CRC has been to formulate recommendations for improvements to these laws that provide for the organization and governance of the city. Any proposed change to the City Charter will be enacted by the Georgia General Assembly. This is your opportunity to provide input to the CRC before their recommendations are finalized. If you are unable to attend the hearing on October 19 or October 24 at City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue, you can write to: Atlanta Charter Review Commission, City Hall East, Suite 2001, Atlanta, GA 30308.
