The incident was determined to be a building fire. Below listed units responded to the reported structure fire at the listed address. Dispatch information while enroute was that there were possibly victims trapped. Rescue 1 was the first unit on scene and gave a condition report of heavy smoke and flame showing. Rescue 1 personnel packed out and were unable to perform any rescue attempts due to the heavy smoke and flame. Ladder 2 was the first suppression unit to arrive on scene. Both 1 3/4" preconnects were pulled off of Ladder 2 and suppression activities were initiated on the heavy involvment of the breezeway on the second floor. The fire was knocked down sufficiently that an attempt was made at gaining access to the second story landing. Lt. Lockhart (R1), FF Keener (R1), and FF Ashley (L2) advanced the 1 3/4" preconnect to the top of the stairs and were again met with heavy fire conditions. FF Miller (R1) remained in front of the building with the other preconnect applying a hosestream to the upper breezeway due to the fire rolling above the attack team. FF Ashley forced the door in apartment H and used the TIC to locate two occupants in a back bedroom and rescued them (with assistance from Engine 3) out of the apartment through the window and down a ladder that personnel from Engine 3 had placed there. Lt. Lockhart and FF Keener continued applying a hose stream to the fire apartment until fire was kncocked down enough to advance into the apartment to conduct a primary search. Engine 6 had placed a ladder through the window in the bedroom where vicitms #1, #2, and #3 were located. Personnel from Rescue 1 and Engine 6 extricated victims #1 and #2 out the apartment through the front door and personnel from Engine 3 extricated victim #3 down the ladder that was at the window. FF Ashley (L2) gained access to apartment G and assisted personnel from Engine 4 with the rescue of the occupant out a window and down a ladder at the front of the building. Personnel from various units assisted EMS with patient care on victims #1, #2, and #3 as well as the other rescued occupants. Remaining personnel on scene continued suppression/salvage/overhaul and secondary search activities until fire was out at 1345.
