Globalization Introduction

I. Attention Grabber What is globalization? Perhaps, different people may have different view about the globalization but do you think globalization take any advantage or disadvantage toward a country? II. Reveal Topic Today, I would like to talk about how the globalization and its effect on Telecommunication industry in Malaysia. III. Relevance Statement Internet is a known as a global library as it contains all the information all over the world. Moreover, it also serves as communication media instead of television, radio and newspapers. Nowadays, young generation in Malaysia is more prefer surfing the internet widely as it can use to complete many activities in our daily life such as online banking, online shopping, online learning, get some entertainments and others. I am sure almost everyone in this room also likes to use the internet every day. IV. Preview of Main Points Some of effects of globalization in on Telecommunication industry in Malaysia are: (a) Telekom Malaysia (TM Berhad) has begun liberalization process by transformed government-own status to commercial status. (b) The advanced communication technology has increase the rate of productivity and competitive advantages for telecommunication companies. (c) The success program of Multimedia super corridors Malaysia(MSC) [Let me start with the first effect of globalization.]

I. Transformation of Telekom Malaysia(TM Berhad) A. Adaptive for fast changing business environment i. Explosion of internet widely cause the process of liberalization by implement the e-commerce. ii. Boardband, 3G service, wireless, broadcast and others services is introduces by Telekom Malaysia. B. By using these kind of services, we are able to: i. To watch the broadcasted live competition such as World Cup, Olympic, badminton and any other competition. ii. Lower the transportation cost and save travel time as can communicate with others without face to face. C. On the other hand, some services have cause: i. ii. People become more introverted and not good in presentation and socialization. Exploitation of technology such as downloading file or file sharing lead to copy righted issue.

[Globalization not only causes the transformation of Telekom Malaysia, but can also lead to high competitive between the telecommunication companies.] II. Competitiveness A. Advanced communication technology i. New players, such as Maxis and DiGi, challenged its dominance and fierce competition became intensified (Telekom Malaysia Berhad, 2001). ii. Each of this competitor try to improve their quality of their services with rapid increase the usage of mobile telephony and internet and the need of speed by consumer is also the main factor for the competitor to fulfil by innovation of new technology. [Now, let me tell you about the final effect of globalization.]

Development of information communication Technology(ICT) A. Success program of Multimedia super corridor(MSC) i. The Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) program was launched by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia (19812003) in order to accelerate purpose of vision 2020. ii. Information Communication Technology (ICT) was considered as the new engine growth because the telecommunications industry is strategic in sustaining the long-term economic growth, in terms of knowledge via increased communications through facilitating the speed, transfer, and sharing of knowledge between people, businesses, and nations (Telekom Malaysia Berhad 2000; 2002). iii. Its purpose is create or initiatives creative and innovative producer and user of multimedia. B. Developed flagship application by Multimedia super Corridor(MSC) i. To improve the development of socio economic, Multimedia super Corridor (MSC) has achieved innovation through four flagship applications. ii. Four flagship applications are smart school, myKad, electronic government, and telehealth. iii. These applications have boosted both local and foreign companies working with our government as Malaysia prepares itself for the Information Age. [So let me summarize the effect of Globalization.]

Conclusion
I. Summary of Main Points In conclusion, globalization has resulted in: (a) Telecommunication industry transform liberally toward the e-commerce. (b) Competitiveness among telecommunication industry occurred fiercely for the purpose of become the dominance of this industry. (c) The Multimedia super Corridor is successful launched. Memorable Concluding Statement In fact, globalization has influence many industries in Malaysia but not only telecommunication industry. There is no doubt that globalization has brought both pros and cons in the process of civilization of a country but so as to enhance the standard in our living civilization is necessary.
