Left photo: Sussex residents listen from outside a meeting room at the Public Safety Building to discussion during a Village Board meeting related to plans for the reconstruction of Main Street. Top photo: The inside of the meeting room was filled as residents came to listen about conceptual plans for roundabout, which was one of several options for Main Street. Photos by Thomas J. McKillen.

all three roundabouts from further consideration and was also opposed to an option for a center turn lane due to amount of land that would be required. Trustee Jim Batzko said the row over roundabouts is the most misunderstood issue Ive ever dealt with during his time on the Village Board. Batzko said the board didnt ask for roundabouts but for design options for the future reconstruction of Main Street, and roundabouts were one of the options presented to the Village Board. Nobody on the board was ever in favor of roundabouts or against them, it was an option that was presented to us, Batzko said. At the start of the meeting, Engineering consultant Steve Plachinski described four conceptual options for Main Street, options which included: Keeping the current street alignment while expanding the parking lane to nine feet. The option would require taking two feet of right of way on the north side. Keeping the current street alignment while adding roundabouts at the Main Street intersections with Maple Avenue, Silver Spring Drive and in front of Piggly Wiggly. The option would require taking more property at the southwest corner of Maple Avenue, the Ta Da Salon at the northeast corner of Silver Spring Drive, along with additional right of way takings at all three intersections. Plachinski noted that overhead utilities would be affected. Adding two-way, left-turn lane in the center of the road. The option would require taking five feet of property on both sides of the road. Re-aligning the intersection of Main Street and Silver Spring Drive to a 90 degree angle. Plachinski summarized responses from residents during presentations at Spring Fest, the library and comments received online about the four options. According to Plachinski, out of the 92 total responses regarding signalized intersection 90 people (98 percent) supported signalized intersections while 2 (2 percent) were opposed. On the conceptual option of roundabouts on Main Street, out of 345 total responses, 80 people (23 percent) supported the option while 265 (77 percent) were opposed. Of the 76 people who offered a response on two-way, left turn lanes, 28 people (37 percent) favored the lane while 48 (63 percent) were opposed. Of those 115 people offering responses to the realignment of the intersection of Main Street and Silver Spring Drive, 41 people (36 percent) supported the option while 74 people (64 percent) were opposed. During board questioning, Wegner asked if signalized lights could be coordinated to allow for a stop of traffic for people to turn left onto Main Street. Plachinski replied there is both wireless and hardwire options to coordinate the lights. During citizen comments, resident Carol David said she was thrilled with the response by the board. You really care what the residents are saying, she said. Jeff Kalis, owner of the Ta Da Salon, advised the village that moving forward, please have your ducks in a row when we start to do this project. You could kill us if you dont have your ducks in a row. Kalis cited road projects in Oconomowoc and Elm Grove as examples of communities where road projects had a negative impact on local businesses. Resident Mike Carlson complained that the board didnt even explore a concept for separating railroad and automobile traffic at the Main Street and Silver Spring Drive crossings. Dont tell me it cant be done, Carlson said, citing a project in Burlington. We dont need roundabouts, but we need a bridge, he said.

Dear Dr. Winter, I need one implant for tooth # 8. I'm looking for an affordable option. Please let me know my options ASAP as I need the work done within 3 months. Dear Gloria, I can't tell you what you need without evaluating the bone that you have, your smile line, and the status and condition of your remaining teeth. Then I can give you costs, options, advantages, disadvantages and risks of each treatment option. I do not know what you mean by "affordable" as it's hard to put a price on your front tooth! Having beautiful teeth is truly priceless. The ability to smile with your own teeth is something that many people may take for granted until they have lost a tooth. Whether you chose a dental bridge which is a prosthesis that requires shaving down adjacent teeth or a dental implant that stands alone and doesnt require alteration of the neighboring teeth is a decision we can discuss at your comprehensive examination and x-ray visit. As to the cost, this can be a confusing topic as people often shop for implant prices without knowing how to compare apples to apples. Implants prices can vary greatly depending upon whether grafting is required to provide bone to support your implant and the type of grafting your situation requires. There are block grafts, tent screw grafts and ridge splitting grafts which all vary in cost. Then there may be a cost associated with skin grafting if the remaining gum is too thin and there is concern that some of the implants underlying color could show through. Typically the cost of an implant will include the surgical placement of the implant body, the uncovering surgery 4-6 months later when a healing cap is placed to help shape the gum tissue and the chimney (abutment) and the final crown that goes on the abutment. The cost for the chimney can vary depending upon whether this support structure can be ordered from the implant company, (a prefabricated abutment) or whether it needs to be custom made to accommodate a specific size or angulation of the implant, which is called a custom abutment. There is a great price difference between these standard and custom abutments and the custom abutments can further be divided between zirconia (tooth colored chimneys or metal chimneys.)
