December 15, 2011 Scribe President Sharon began the meeting by speaking about Santa Clothes and the

Christmas Party last Thursday, Dec 8th, announced the City of Las Vegas honored the Rotary Clubs of Southern Nevada with a certificate officially making December 8th Santa Clothes Day, and with a Congratulations! to Ginger Anderson on her nomination as President Elect-Elect. Bob Fisher gave the invocation. Glenn Meier led us in America the Beautiful. Sergeant-atArms was Bob Patten. At the head table were Patty Iannuzi and Tom Schalk. Sharon spoke about their classifications, service to Rotary, and shared Tom enjoys traveling the world and Pattys love [for] all things Germanic led her to study and spend time in Munich, Germany. Beginning announcements, News 3 Anchor Marie Mortera shared interesting, hot off the press news stories being covered at 4pm, and reported News 3 coverage on Santa Clothes can be found at www.MyNews3.com. Steve Linder announced the Suite Holidays event this Saturday, Dec 17th, where attendees will have a chance to tour exclusive high-roller suite usually not open to the general public. Brock Fraser, with great thanks!, reported about 35 volunteers for Opportunity Villages Magical Forest Wednesday, December 14th. Craig Miller shared on the Valentines Day Gala February 11th at the Renaissance Hotel. Carolyn Sparks announced the Christmas party action raised $3,173 for LVRF, and gave a special Thank you! to everyone who contributed. Randy Donald shared a Thank you letter from the Womens Development Center for the grant afforded by the Las Vegas Rotary Club. Additionally, Randy gave special recognition to Carolyn Sparks and Melanie Muldowney for all their work on the Christmas Party. Pat Carlton, with Paul Harris Award announcements, honored awardees in attendance; Craig Miller w/ a PHF+3, Ronny ----- w/ a PHF+4, Janie Lynn w/ a PHF+4, Russ Swain w/ a PHF+5, President Sharon McNair w/ a PHF+5, and Kathy Mahon w/ a PHF+7. Past District Governor Don(?) ---- and President Sharon recognized 37 members for perfect attendance, including Pat Carlton who received a standing ovation for 30 years of perfect attendance. Jim Hunt recognized all the people who supported Santa Clothes including donors, volunteers, JC Pennys, and UNLV; announced a Santa Clothes photo collage by Jim Tucker is available; and shared that a total of 3,024 kids have been supported since the start of Santa Clothes. David Young announced a new Canned Food Drive initiative to collect spare change (coins) year-round. Bill Stephan informed the club Bob McBrien, who started Santa Clothes here, has now started Santa Clothes in Vancouver. Stewart Levy introduced our guest speaker Susan Hirsch from the Cleveland Clinic, Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Susan shared on the programs and services provided by the Cleveland Clinic, Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health for research in, education of, and care for those suffering with cognitive impairments and neurocognitive disorders. Susan followed with an open Q&A.
