Project Proposals Project I Faculty - Aparna Title: Predicting stages in Retinopathy of prematurity. Field of Work: Medical Image Processing.

Abstract : Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a disease that affects the eyes of many babies born prematurely and with low birth weight. If retinopathy is not detected in the days following birth, blindness may occur. Studies have demonstrated that by observing the blood vessels within the retina, the disease can be quantified at an early stage, and early treatment can save the baby's eyes. Automating this task can be performed by image processing means to measure curvature by changes in intensity and by template matching. The project involves capturing the image of the retina to extract and quantify both tortuosity and dilation of blood vessels and predicting the stage to which it can progress. Title :

Compression of Hyperspectral images using distributed source coding. Signal Processing and Image Compression.

Field of Work:

Abstract : Distributed source coding (DSC) is a method to code independently, two statistically dependent sources [1, 2]. But the decoder jointly decodes the data exploiting the correlation between two sources. Such a system can still achieve the performance of encoder that jointly compresses the two sources; As a result we can have a lower encoder-complexity at the cost of complex decoders. In this work we propose to apply the concept of DSC to remote sensing image compression. Objective of this work is to devise a compression algorithm based on DSC principles for hyper spectral images to reduce the complexity of the onboard encoder.
