A passage to Africa.. Images do not voice out everything.

This is evidenced by George Alghiah, because what was the caption of his journalistic camera was not actually the caption of his human heart and oculars. So this passage was the only sole medium for the author to pour out his deep thoughts as a journalist, because the newspaper reports have no place to share personal emotions. It is a dedication to the lethal famine that gripped the skies of Somalia in the early 1990s,as the title speaks out,..to Africa Besides this, the excerpt is penned down in simple language which is emphatic and pictorial. The tone is melancholy, sad and gloomy through out the passage.twin evils of hunger Long complex sentences are used. The beginning adjectives in a row hungry, lean paint a real vivid image of feeble bodies, awaiting aid or death ,shows their unimaginable patience. The ending words one I will never forget constructs intricacy and leaves the reader clueless or awaiting the appearance of a feminine character. The selection of word hamlet instead of the name of the place if it had any, along with the words describing location, ghost village..dirt trackaid agencies had yet to reach all this conveys that the location of news was like many others a distant place, with half or fully dead inhabitants. ghoulish manner this is the admittance, that journalists just capture the hardships of weak andhelpless and use them as elements to escalate the TRP of their newspaper. It depicts the editor's selfishness. fact of life indicates that the attractive images are more significant than the sufferer to the world outside . Simile is used like a craving for a drug focuses on the addictive nature of the journalistic process. Then, certain brief exemplary families are highlighted, and the death of a member is described dispassionately, same old stuff, no rage as if it was a usual mandatory news for them. half life to death itself, that according to them it was better to depart from the hardships of this cruel life. Senses have been used to add the horror and to bring out sympathy for the sufferers, smell of decaying flesh Usage of hyperbole she was rotting. Figurative language has been used shattered legV shape of a boomerang to make the reader feel his presence at the scenario. Where verbs add the ingredient to shock the audience.

Reeks of disgust has been used as a tool to highlight the nauseated state journalists pass through fulfilling their duty ,clammy palm..just cleaned vomit smell of the excretion fluids leaves the lump rise to the throats of the readers, and to let them know how the journalist's have to control their humanity and emotions and to prevent themselves from offering any aid possible, because they have to hunt for 'the most striking picture'. The suspense in the beginning is soon resolved by the pitiful description of the old and dying man who stood out in the eyes of the author among many others suffering, just because of the unique magic in his smile that left the quest to solve the reason behind that unanswered smile. The author was too much moved by the smile that is evident through the constant repetition of the word smile,he even makes a rhetorical interrogation what was it about that smile? I had to find out shows the curiosity invading the journalist. Though the quest was answered the writer still did not find satisfaction. The language grows amiable to close the distance between them 'my nameless friend', and the silent smile of the man made the author realise the distance that exists between the journalist and the sufferer, and made him feel ashamed as another rhetorical question shows how should I feel.standing there so strong and confident? It was nothing else then the smile that made the author ponder on how absurd, he used to never actually feel anything about anyone before, when he used to publish such harsh news, so he can just bring in elation for his newspaper and how he used to struggle to hunt for the most striking picture The tone becomes indifferent,I would write the story with all the power shows the dedication, and his inability to freedom only adequate answer a reporter can give to the mans question.and I owe you one Futility is depicted because the man will never be able to read the article even though it is fully dedicated to him. The main target audience for this passage is the one who lives in more favorable conditions and just skim pass these images without actually interpreting their original meaning and then not struggling to bring a change in their lives.
