National Aboriginal Day

National Aboriginal Day June 23rd, 2012 1pm-3pm Richmond Cultural Centre 7700 Minuro Blvd.
You are invited to a free celebration showcasing local Aboriginal artists and storytellers at this years National Aboriginal Day (NAD) Celebration held at the Cultural Centre. We are also looking for more Aboriginal artists to showcase their talents on the stage. Summer Camp
Pathways Aboriginal Centre is pleased to announce a summer camp lead by Yukalans! WHEN: In July the camp will run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 1pm -4pm For ages 9-13. WHEN: In August the camp will run Tuesdays and Wednesday from 11am-4pm For ages 14-19. The Camps will be interactive where youth will have the chance to reinvent traditional stories, share good food and lots more!! Space is limited! So register today! Information Session and Nominations for the 2012-2013 OSKAYAK Youth Commitee Aboriginal youth between the ages of 10-24 who are interested in developing and strengthening their leadership and community engament skills are invited to attend the information session that will be held on July 12 2012 at 4pm. Annual Elections will be held July 24th 4pm at the Pathways Aboriginal Centre. Doors Open 2012: Poetry Nature May 5th at Pathways Aboriginal Centre 100-7900 Alderbridge Way 10am: Aboriginal Literature in BC & Canada 12pm: Finding Your Voice ~ Writing Creatively Literary Workshops are facilitated by Joanne Arnott Lunch prepared by the OSKAYAK Youth Commitee and Elder Marlene Hale May 6th at Richmond City Hall 6911 No. 3 Rd From 1:30pm - 4pm at City Hall join us in an afternoon of Literary & Drum Performance Drawing on diverse traditions from Salish to Chilean, Mikmaq to Cree, and Punjabi to Singaporean, these contemporary performers will delve deep and bring out the heart of the nations in an intimate afternoon of words and song. Beginning and ending with the pulse of the drum, expect an afternoon of immersion in the world affirming world of modern literature Opening the afternoon is Senaqwila Wyss Larry Nicholson Fauzia Rafique Kagan Goh Michelle Sylliboy Alejandro Mujica-Olea Drum Syndicate & Youth Performers Joanne Arnott, MC All events are free and open to the public All Welcome!

Getting Serious about Affordable Housing A Youth Dialogue with Olympian Alexa Loo
When: Thursday, March 10 6pm-8pm Where: 100-7900 Alderbridge Way, Richmond Pathways Aboriginal Centre Join World Champion Snow Boarder Alex Loo for conversation over a free meal about affordable housing in Richmond. This is your chance to help build the Richmond Rental Connect - a pilot project to create an affordable housing registry. The event is open for youth aged 18-25. There will bus tickets and prizes!!
