COMUNICAO ESCRITA 1 Online Writing Project Instructions

1. Access http://www.createdebate.com/ (it works better on Google Chrome). 2. Click on SignUp, create a standardized username (login) and a password.
The username must follow a pattern: [first name up to 10 letters] + [(1=morning) or (2=evening)] + [profs initial > E=Elizabeth, M=Marlia , L=Leland] Examples: Jose1E, Joao2E, Maria1M, Catarina2L, etc. Exceptions: BrunoA1E, BrunoC1E, MarinaH1E, MarinaT1E, MairaP1E, MayraC1E, CarolinaM2E, CarolineF2E.

3. You will be a debater in one of the topics and a participant in the others. Please see specific instructions a. DEBATERS: Prepare the debate: i. send your topic or thesis to Roberto (monitor) (roberto.francisco@usp.br ) long before your deadline

ii. accept Robertos invitation to join your debate iii. send your case1 to your opponents for proofreading iv. proofread your opponents case and send them the feedback of your reading. This is peer reading activity 1, please remember to keep a copy of the original case and your feedback and send the two together to roberto.francisco@usp.br and beth.harkot@usp.br or hand them in at the first opportunity (first class after this phase) v. read your opponents feedback and conclude your case. POST your case to start the debate: i. One member of the pair posts the case, on behalf of the pair. Please indicate your partners username as well.

ii. click on Add Argument FOR or AGAINST, according to the side you take iii. the debate is ready to start b. PARTICIPANTS: i. you will have a maximum of two weeks to participate in each debate

ii. accept Robertos invitation to join the debate iii. read both cases (for and against) iv. post a new argument or a support/dispute/clarify comment, as appropriate, to express your position or idea about the topic or thesis under discussion. Remember your post is expected to be substantial, justified and related to previous posts or raise new relevant ideas. v. you are expected to post a minimum total of five different substantial posts throughout the project, divided into at least three different debates. This means you are expected to follow all the debates, but may choose to participate in the ones which are more appealing to you. Need help? Any doubts?
