Valentines Range

CONCEPT
Brief Design a 2013 Valentines range for Marks and Spencer using illustrated lettering as the main visual device. Background Consider words and sayings for the cards that are appropriate for both male and female recipiants. A name and visual identity for the range should be created. Consideration should also be taken as to the pricepoint that each card would fall into. Target Audience Younger male and female Marks and Spencers customers ranging from 18-30 who are shopping for Valentines cards and gifting. Solution Create a range of Valetines cards featuring three different pricepoints. Create a range of gift wraps, gift tags, and gift stickers, as well as proposing a range of gifting products, all packaged appropriately and branded with the identity of the range.

IDENTITY
The identity for the range is Just my type which is an intentional reference to both the typographic design aesthetic of the range as well as the romantic conotation. The logo is adapted depending on its application. It can function as text with a small heart motif, or inside a heart motif for example on the back pages of the greetings cards.

CARD RANGE
The range of cards features 8 cards in three different styles. The first 3 are the more simple styles with more male-friendly editorial. These are the lowest pricepoint. The second highest pricepoint cards are more decorative and more feminine in their appearance, but contain no add-ons such as foiling, gems, or flitter. The third style is the highest pricepoint as these two cards contain flitter. PROPOSED WINDOW DISPLAY


Large foamboard hearts suspended by wire cables, white dye cut self-adhesive vinyl lettering for the window pane itself and background and floor decorative banners.

The Gin Joint Valentines Range

CONCEPT
Brief Create an illustrated type-based visual identity for The Gin Joint; a new bar that specializes in gin. Background Gin has notoriously had a rocky relationship with the British, with fashionable highs and notorious lows; adoration followed by controversy. However, over the past year there has been a gin revival becoming attractive again to a less traditionally younger audience making it once again fashionable. The identity should cater to the new contemporary crowd whilst still maintaing and reflecting some nostalgic elements of gins history. Target Audience 18-25 year olds who are adventurous, fun seeking in search of new flavours and experiences. Solution Create an identity that reflects both past and contemporary styles of lettering. Deliverables include three styles of lettering, menu designs, house gin brand design, bar accessories, exterior signage and contextual illustrations.
