Dear Sir/Madam
Thames Tunnel public consultation (phase two) 4 November 2011 10 February 2012
We would like to let you know about our plans for the construction of the Thames Tunnel. This major project is urgently needed to help tackle the 39 million tonnes of untreated sewage which overflows into the River Thames in an average year, when Londons Victorian sewerage system becomes overloaded after rainfall. During our first phase of public consultation on the project, 13 September 2010 14 January 2011, we asked for your comments on our proposed routes and sites. We have been listening to the feedback and we have made some important and significant changes to our plans. This has resulted in a refined and redesigned scheme. We are about to commence our second phase of consultation on the project. We will be consulting local planning authorities, statutory consultees, members of the public and landowners with an interest in the land over and through which the project will be constructed or who may be affected by construction or operation of the tunnel. We expect to submit our application for consent in late 2012 and to start construction of the scheme in 2016. We are consulting all those who live close to a construction site or the proposed tunnel and we would like you to find out more about how the Thames Tunnel may affect you, taking into account the changes to the project since phase one consultation. We do not need to acquire any part of your property. This is a major construction project and depending on where you live or work, you need to understand what we are planning to do and how it may affect you. If you are able, please visit one of our exhibitions and speak to my team who can help answer your questions. You can also visit our website at www.thamestunnelconsultation.co.uk or call us on our 24 hour helpline, 0800 0721 086 for more information. We are committed to hearing the views of those potentially affected by the project. This consultation closes on 10 February 2012 at 5pm and we must receive all your comments by this date. It is your opportunity to tell us your views on our proposals so that we can take them into account before we finalise the design and publicise it prior to formally submitting our application for consent to construct the Thames Tunnel. Yours sincerely

Your property is located within approximately 100 metres of the boundary of one of our proposed construction sites. We do not need to acquire your property for our project but you may be affected by the construction and possibly the future operation of the tunnel. In addition, in order to build the tunnel we may need to acquire subsoil rights below your property. However, due to the depth of the tunnel (20-67 metres), your property should not be affected by its construction or subsequent operation. Please take the time to find out more and contact us so we can discuss how our project may affect you. If you are able, please visit one of our exhibitions and speak to my team who can help answer your questions.
