Largest and most extensive watermain Peel has ever designed and constructed Two major watermains will

be constructed:
The Hanlan Feedermain (2,400 mm 8 ft.) will carry water from Lakeview Water Treatment Plant to the Hanlan Reservoir and Pumping Station on Tomken Road and Britannia Road The Mississauga City Centre Subtransmission Main (1,500 mm - 5 ft.) will carry water from Hanlan Pumping Station to the Mississauga city centre core

Why is the Hanlan Water Project needed?

To meet the water demands of future planned and approved Regional population growth, including in the Mississauga city centre core To provide operational flexibility when existing Hanlan Feedermain needs to be temporarily shut off for inspection or repair

Construction started south of Lakeshore Road in late 2011 and is expected to be completed by mid-2016 Work will be done by open-cut and tunnelling methods of construction Necessary replacement of local distribution watermains along the route will coincide with construction to avoid multiple disruptions

Project is divided into two assignments

South: Hanlan Feedermain from Lakeshore Water Treatment Plant to Dixie Road & Eastgate Parkway North: Hanlan Feedermain from Dixie Road & Eastgate Parkway to Hanlan Pumping Station, and Mississauga City Centre Subtransmission Main

Work will occur simultaneously in both North and South assignments
