YVR continues its success as the Air Gateway to the Asia Pacific. (top) Rob took part in the Bathing the Buddha ceremony at Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada) in Richmond. (bottom left) Rob had the pleasure to speak at the Seeds of Hope display, a joint initiative of SGI and the Earth Charter International, at the Aberdeen Mall. The exhibition stresses the interconnectedness with the rest of the community of life, and the need to broaden our sphere of compassion and concern. (bottom right) The three Richmond MLAs continued their tradition by meeting with the Board of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, to provide a quarterly update and receive input from the business community. Rob, with Min. Stephanie Cadieux and Min. John Yap, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Man In Motion World Tour in Richmond. In March 1985, Rick Hansen set off from Vancouver to wheel 40,000 kilometres through 34 countries on the Man in Motion Tour. Rick has shown us that the determination, perseverance and passion of one man can start a ripple effect that changes the world, said Rob. Today, Ricks vision of an inclusive and accessible society is becoming a reality, and B.C. is proud to be a leader in spinal cord research, treatment and services. The Anniversary relay has made its way through 600 communities, reminding everyone that one person can make a world of difference.

Rob had the pleasure to welcome the delegation from Sichuan Airlines as YVR announced a new air service from China to Vancouver. The new service from China further strengthens our already excellent air connections to Asia and will add more jobs at the airport and in the community, said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister, Blair Lekstrom. The three times per week service will connect Canada to Chengdu and Shenyang China, which are both key economic, transportation and commercial hubs. Being the capitals of Sichuan and Liaoning Province, both represent multi-million population markets in Chinas western and northeast regions. The new service is estimated to generate 56 person-years of employment, $2.6 million in wages and contribute $5 million to BCs Gross Domestic Product.
