Simple guidance for the product

A gears heart is composed of 9 pieces of 10-cog, and 3 pieces of 15-cog; in total, 12 gears. 10-cog returns to the same position after 3 rotations. In the same time, 15-cog makes 2 rotations. 10-cog makes a rotation with one rotation of handle. Therefore, 3 rotations make to regain the original figure.

Part 1-1; How to make the gears 1-6, and 8-12.

Materials

Instruments needed:

I am using an eyeleteer instead of metallic pencil.

A quick advice

Mixed material makes things complicated, therefore, please make gears one by one. I think it is good to start with the gear 9. Because it was comparatively difficult for the gear 4 and the gear 7, it is recommended to manufacture after you become comfortable with works up to the certain level. You can wipe out with a clean and wet dish towel when glue sticks out. But please be careful with the printed parts, as it may become blurred.

Now we shall start. To print out the paper pattern of a gear. Please print out with the actual size. There is a scale for confirmation on page G-1. Please make sure after printing. Please open gear file in pattern folder, and print it. And then, open gear-backside-print, and print on the backside of the papers. The reason is to complete the work neatly. Please be careful in using papers with front side and back side. (There are only 6 pieces for backside-printing.) There are some pages (sheets), printed with 2 types of gears on the same ones. Please make sure not to mix the parts. Please attach traces to all bending

lines with your metallic pencil.

Please cut all parts.

For the areas with grey colour.

Please do with great sensitivities because it will have impacts on the completion. Please try with unneeded papers. Please bend all parts.

With long straight lines, please apply a ruler, and cut straight. It is faster to cut by hands for shorter lines.

Please cut after making a valley fold in the gray area. (This is because you cannot cut neatly in case the angle is too acute.)

We will start the adhesion from the following page. Please refer to it.

How to paint of the glue

Please make the mountain folds and the valley folds, which look like mountains and valleys, respectively, on all parts.

Please take small volume of glue out onto the paper, which does not require glue. The adhesion will be worsen when the glue get dried. Please take the ones newly frequently.

Paint with a toothpick, something like putting butter on your bread. The thinner, the better it is adhered.
2

It is the gear 9 shown in the photos. The method is almost same except the surface. You will understand with your feeling, by making one anyway. Apply glue to the edge of your paper.

Please cut after making a valley fold in the gray area. (This is because you cannot cut neatly in case the angle is too acute.) Apply glue to the backside of it.

For the areas without paste-margins, apply the glue to the edge of your paper, and paste.

Please refer to the page 8, in order to fit the symbols, and assemble the surface-part.

Paste the margin of the part written as Pi-1.

Paste the margin As one another.

Note) The gears 1, 10, and 11 go against the direction of the photo. In case of the gears 3, 4, 6, 8, and 10

Paste the margin Jo in advance.

First of all, paste the margin S.

Then, apply the glue to all parts of the margin with marks, and paste.

Fix with the side 1 precisely, and then, fix with the side 2.

Please use tweezers to suppress the areas where it is hard to suppress well.

Then, apply the glue to all areas of the margin with ", and paste.

A quick advice

After that, apply the glue to all areas of the margin with , and paste.

Please continue in order, in this manner.

Please apply the glue on the red lines respectively.

First, paste the margin with .

And apply the bind to the rest of margins.

That is the way you go.

Now you will go reverse.

Paste cogs one by one.

Please suppress the items you have completed from the inside using something looking like L character, such as a hexagon wrench.

Please adhere for all parts.

Please apply the glue to the same position on the back side.

Please suppress the position of the pillar with your middle finger.

Paste the glue with the mark precisely on each of 4 areas.

Fit, with making the marks matched. Please insert straight.

Please suppress the angles of the hole with your thumb. For the backside, please suppress the position of the pillar. Please be careful not to smash them, and make sure to insert to the depths.

Please apply the glue per each cog, by rolling it up.

The glue on the margin is sufficient if you apply the volume as shown in the drawing.

Please make sure to find if no paper sticks out with your fingers, like the photo.

If any, please cut with a scissor, like the photo.

With the same manners, please complete other gears.

Additional materials
Metal pipe with 5mm-outer diameter 0.5 mm thickness. (You may find the ones with 1 m-length at a home center store. Please pick up the one with your favourite colour, while variety of materials includes aluminum, brass, and copper. ) Double-stick tape.

Cut a pipe.
Please cut the pipe to the 222 mm length. The variance in 1mm should not be an issue. Your use of a pipe cutter makes it cut neatly. You will use the 50 mm length one on a step afterwards, so that you have to keep it.

Please make sure that you are printing with the actual size. Please measure the dimension of straw-use gauge on R-1 page. Please open rotary-parts in the pattern folder, and print it.

Please attach traces to all bending lines with your metallic pencil. Please cut all parts. A quick advice
There are place to make holes. Please make a space precisely, not to protrude. Even if the hole of 7mm ofin the washer slips off to some extent, it does not really matter so that you can practise with washers.

washer Please make the mountain folds and the valley folds, which look like mountains and valleys, respectively, on all parts.

Cut the straw to 11 pieces, with 34.5 mm-length and 6 mm-diameter.

First of all, cut it with scissors roughly.

Cut-end should be straight. Please make a fine adjustment to make it. Roughly cutting is enough. I am almost good. Even if a cut-end is a little rickety, it is all right.

With a gauge, please check the length of the straws being cut into pieces.

Make same 11 items.

Be careful with the directions. First, paste a margin. Please be careful with the directions.

Please cut the 12 mm-plywood in the following dimension. 130mm 130mm1 130mm 118mm1 20mm 20mm5 You can get it cut at a large store of home center. Drilling stage comes during the fabrication. As it is necessary to make a hole perpendicularly, drilling machine is needed. (It is difficult to make a hole with hand-drilling.) There are some low cost products less than 10,000. But, it is not economical to buy for this work, and there is an issue in the storage. Therefore, it is recommended for those without drilling machine, to go to your nearest home center-store offering drilling services. It is efficient to make them drill a hole while making them cut sheets of plywood. In that case, please take at a look at the latter part on page 20 pages, because the method will slightly be changed.

About a drilling machine

Addition: The arrangement of ideas

Print a paper-pattern on a plain paper.

Paste the adhesives which let you paste and tear off instantly, on the back side of the paper pattern. Let the adhesive dry per the guide.

As soon as it dries, paste on the paper for usage.

Please attach traces to all bending lines with your metallic pencil. Try with a paper not needed, because the power adjustment is not easy.

Please cut the perforated lines per each plain paper.

After cutting, peel the plain paper, and assemble. If the adhesives are left, please wipe out with a clean towel.

In case you would like a metal-like item;

Handle

There is a seal with which you feel as if you have made the metal-quality, after making the surface as "metal tinfoil" with glue. The item shown in the photo is something, being tore off metal tinfoil and put it and sharpened it with a file.

You may use a handle available in the market. In such a case, you will have to adjust the concerning diameters to that of shaft with handle, sold in the market.

Arrangement of pedestal 1

Arrangement of pedestal 2

You can assemble a box with clean grains on the board. Or you can assemble with plywood in this way, and place a paper box in it, because the original box easily gets hollow.

You may show the inside, without covers.
