The occasion was graced by renowned speakers like Rita Soni, CEO, NASSCOM foundation and Harish Bijoor, of HarishBijoor consultants. The topics and their main discussion points were: >FREEDOM OF PRESS AND FREEDOM FROM PRESS The press needs to introspect on the contours of its own functioning. The government, irrespective of a democratic set up, impose reasonable restrictions on the freedom of press or not. >S Gen Y AS BROAD MINDED AS IT PROCLAIMS TO BE? - Do we really have the spirit of questioning the set norms and traditions which are doing no social good but just continuing to exist as a legacy? Is the youth capable of executing the radical changes in society what they say they believe in or are their loud protests and voices just an intelligent cover-up? Are we taking any step towards the emancipation of the masses lying in the bottom of pyramid, addressing the needs of the farmers, imposing strict regulations to uproot corruption or just cribbing about the sorry state of the nation? These were some of the questions which were thrown light upon.

Gladiator is one of the five flagship games which are played every year during Xpressions. The semi-finalists had to sit through six mindboggling business games from all functions of management such as finance, marketing, operations, and human resources. The games were played over two days, at the end of which three finalists were sent to the final round, The Dark Chamber. It is but a truly unique test of mental strength, where nothing but a Gladiator's courage and intelligence would suffice. The ultimate hero is the one who can survive this challenge which Mr. Bharat Goel from IIM- Calcutta did. In Gladiator, as always, 'The best takes it all'. And yes he did take away the prize money of Rs 60,000.

HOMECOMiNG
Homecoming is the annual Alumni meet organised at XIMB, during the most awaited B-school fest, Xpressions. This is an occasion when all the alumni come back to their alma mater, relive the memories of their days here and reconnect with classmates, friends, faculty and the current batch. This year too Homecoming was held on the 12th of November, and was a huge success as it was attended by the XIMBians in large numbers across different batches. This was an event exclusively for the alumni of XIMB in which they were invited to the campus for walking down the memory lane, apart from participating in other activities. The day began with a formal inauguration ceremony with Fr. P.T. Joseph, Director of XIMB, Dr. Latha Ravindran, Faculty Coordinator of Alumni Committee, and Prof. Jeevan J. This was followed by an Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) which is a platform for alumni to share their opinions, ideas and experiences on relevant issues for the development of the institute. Later in the evening, the Alumni Committee organised a cultural fest for our esteemed alumni which was followed by High Tea. A guided tour of the institute was scheduled after it in order to show them the life at XIMB and the changes that have come about in their beloved campus. Another exciting event for the day was the X-cricket organized for the alumni. 1991 BATCH REUNiON

Bang!!! 27th of December was reverberating at XIMB. Not just because of the chimes of Christmas bells but mainly by the reunion of the 1991 batch at the campus. The once students of XIMB came back to visit the college stunning everyone with their never fading camaraderie and their everlasting friendship. Their frequency has not changed a bit! It was such a gala time at XIMB to see all the bigwigs having fun time at the campus, reliving all the happy moments they shared together here. Life feels so full, so wondrous, and so beautiful when the past brings smiles for the crazy moments and tears for they are just there in the memory! The Reunion witnessed the same. Not only the Alumni became nostalgic but also the faculty who taught them, the dean, in short, the entire XIMB was filled with an air of nostalgia. It was awesome to see the notabilities tuning their memories up to their antic past of high fives, pranks and leg-pullings. The alumni flew from various geographies across the globe and the reunion was such a great success.

The flow of the program was meticulously planned so as to keep the entire set of events as informal and enjoyable as possible. The alumni so enjoyed the flash presentation made exclusively for the reunion that perfectly covered the growth and transformation of XIMB from those days of its infancy to its remarkable silver jubilee year. The presentation received special thanks from the alumni. It was followed by Latha madam's presentation on the development of XIMB which focussed on how XIMB was shaped by its sculptors from the time of its inception till date. Even the junior Alcom core team was awestruck to witness the then infrastructure, hang out spots, etc., one thing that remained unchanged was the tempo of the students amid all the tempest. Time runs at its own pace but there are certain things that stand very unique that even time cannot erode. One such thing is XIMB and its relation to surprise quizzes. Even the alumni were not spared from the surprise quiz. The questions were highly pertaining to things that happened during 1991 and the alumni thoroughly enjoyed the game. Toffees were distributed for each right answer and the participation became even wilder in the pursuit of winning toffees. It was extremely strange to see people of that stature actively participating in the fun games and taking pride in winning an extra toffee. X-Mementos-XIMB's official merchandise was inaugurated during the reunion in the presence of many prominent and esteemed faculties at XIMB. In the evening the students of XIMB had a gyaan session with the alumni and it was highly enlightening since the students could actually see where they will be ten-twenty years down the line.

RM ALUMNi MEET
It was a Sanidhya of a different kind wherein we meet together this winter season to reminisce, network, get updated, rejuvenated, reconnect and relive some of the cherished memories of our Alma mater. All the RM Alumni at Hyderabad thought to have a get together in the city this winter and hence the meeting was set up on 26th November 2011. The evening turned out to be a deja vu of the good times one used to have at XIMB. However, the joy was kind of double this time because it was coordinated and organized only by Alumni; the student Alumni Committee had been relieved of any responsibility in this event and hence we had created history of sorts! While Nilay Raha (RM Batch 2009) took initiative in contacting the Alumni, each Alumnus in turn called up their batchmates, Seniors and Juniors whom they were in touch with. As a result, the fifth floor of GVK One Mall at Road No. 1, Banjara Hills was abound in laughter and memories. Bharavi Mishra and Divya Mishra (both from RM Batch 2003) came along with their young sonRicheek. Tapan Das (RM Batch 1998) was flying from Nagaland and came straight down from Airport to meet the august gathering! Venkatesh D. (RM Batch 2000) proposed that we should perhaps arrange a picnic to some place outside Hyderabad where we can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relive the old days. Gaurishankar Rao (RM Batch 2003) and Tarak (RM Batch 2010) agreed and suggested some spots close to the city. I and Phanish Kumar (RM Batch 2011) lightened the occasion with some banter. Apart from the usual gossip mongering and business card exchanging, the evening has paved the way for future Alumni reunions. I hope this gathering showed the way for XIMB Alumni all over the world to reconnect with one another within their towns and cities. It is perhaps time for us to start being a little more proactive and remove the burden of Alumni events from the Alumni Office and the Student Committees! -Joseph Satish(RM Batch 2011)
