A Kid's Life In United States

Hi! My name is Robert and I live in Chicago, Illinois in the USA (United States of America). The USA (also called America) has the third-largest population in the world and is the fourth-largest country. It covers the middle part of North America and stretches between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The USA is divided into 50 sections called states. One of our states is a group of islands called Hawaii and is in the Pacific Ocean. Another state is actually attached to Canada and is called Alaska. The state I live in, Illinois, is located in the center part, or Midwestern section, of our country. I am 10 years old. I have a mom a dad and three brothers and one sister. Their names Michael, Trevor, Jake, and Elizabeth. Michael is 14, Trevor is 12, Jake is 8, and Elizabeth is 7. My ancestors are from Ireland and Italy. Many of the people in this country come from European ancestry. There are also many African Americans, Hispanics, Asian, and Native American people living here. The average temperature in Chicago is usually around 75 degrees in the summer, and in the spring it is usually around 60 degrees. There are many different climates found in my country depending on where you live. Chicago is a great place to visit. There are also lots of terrific museums to visit such as Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum of Natural History, and the world-famous Art Institute of Chicago. You also won't want to miss seeing the Sears Tower. It is one of the tallest buildings in the world. It is 110 stories and 1,707 feet (if you include the antenna) tall. Some food and drinks here in the USA that I really enjoy are macaroni and cheese, chicken, ham, milk, and soda. But I can't take any soda without asking mom. Otherwise, you can buy a hot lunch from the school. After we eat our lunch, we go outside for recess. Maybe sometime you will come to America! I'm sure you would love it. You would probably like the parks and the big buildings. The deserts down south, the Rocky Mountains, and the Grand Canyon are really beautiful too! Well, I have to go! Bye!

A Kid's Life In England

My pins are so tired I thought I'd take the lift. Hello, my name is Porsche, and I live in England. England is in the southern and eastern part of the island of Great Britain in the British Isles. I am eleven years old, and I am in primary school. Next year I will go to secondary school. We go to school from age five to eleven. I have a test to take tomorrow because you take tests when you are seven, eleven, fourteen, and sixteen. We wear uniforms when we go to school. Our summer vacation is six weeks long. Our food is very simple. Beef, lamb and pork are common meats. Sometimes people roast or boil potatoes. The names of foods often tell what part of England they come from. Yorkshire pudding and Cornish pasties are my favorite foods. We play many sports here, like rugby, cricket, and tennis. My personal favorite is soccer. In England, we call it football. Some other things we do for fun include golfing, fishing, and hunting. Some party games are dominoes, darts, and snooker. Snooker is similar to pool. For clothes we wear western clothing, just as kids in America do. The weather is never too hot and never too cold. It rains a lot, England is well known for its rainy weather. There is little snow, even in the mountains. We get the most sunny weather in the southeast coast. Some really fun places to visit are the sunny regions. London is also the most popular place to visit. My favorite attractions are Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. You can also visit Buckingham Palace except you can't go inside because that is where the queen lives. My country is smaller then the U.S. state of Alabama so it is not very large. Well, I've got to go study for that test I have to take tomorrow. I hope you liked my page about my country and I, and I hope you can visit me someday. Cheers, Porsche
