Article 1 Organisation The Region of Istria together with inistra ! "sso#iation of $inegrowers and $inema%ers of Istria& in #ooperation with the 'ol(te#hni# of Ri)e%a! *ndergraduate Studies in $inema%ing in 'ore+& ,a#ult( of "gri#ulture in -agre. / 0epartment of iti#ulture and Enolog( and 1raduate Studies of iti#ulture and Enolog( in *dine 2Corso di 3aurea in iti#oltura ed Enologia di *dine4 organi5es the Sixth Edition of 6The $orld of 7al8asia6 International Competition9 The Competition will .e held on 24 "pril 2014 in 'ore+ in a##ordan#e with the Rules of Competition9 Article 2 Objective The o.)e#ti8es of 6The $orld of 7al8asia6 International Competition are to: 19 29 =9 49 1ather as man( 8arieties of 7al8asia together in one pla#e; Emphasi5e the <ualit( and pe#uliarit( of 8arious 7al8asia 8arieties; Ena.le the produ#ers to exhi.it and to #ompare their produ#ts; "ward the winema%ers who produ#e the .est wines on the .asis of <ualit( as assessed .( <ualified wine tasters; >9 ?e#ome the pla#e where trends in the wine produ#tion from 8arious 8arieties of 7al8asia are monitored; @9 ?e#ome the world point of referen#e for experts and #onsumers interested in the 7al8asia wines9 Article Eligibilit! Re"#ire$ents 6The $orld of 7al8asia6 International Competition #an .e entered .( wines su.mitted .( the produ#ers& without dis#rimination9 The wines shall .e .ottled and produ#ed from an( of the 7al8asia grape 8ariet(& in #omplian#e with the definitions set in the 6International Code of Enologi# 'ra#ti#e6 issued .( AI 9 "ll wines must #arr( the name of the #ountr( of origin where grapes were har8ested and the wine made9 The #ompetition #an .e entered onl( .( samples deri8ing from a homogenous .at#h of wine of at least 19000 litres& the 8olume of whi#h is indi#ated in "rti#le B& 'oint = of the Rules of Competition9 Ex#eptionall(& a sample deri8ing from a .at#h of smaller 8olume #an .e entered& .ut not less than 100 litres and a##ompanied .( a written )ustifi#ation for su#h a small produ#tion9 "ll samples must .e la.elled and pa#%ed as indi#ated in "rti#le B& 'oint = of the Rules of Competition9 $here the produ#t is pa#%ed espe#iall( for the Competition& it shall .e a##ompanied .( do#uments to )ustif( the spe#ial pa#%age9 $ines su.mitted .( single or asso#iated produ#ers who ha8e .een 8alidl( #on8i#ted of fraud or #ounterfeit shall not .e e8aluated9

Article * Wine &lassi+ication 6The $orld of 7al8asia6 International Competition shall .e open to the following wine #ategories: 7al8asia still wines 2or s(non(ms4 of all <ualit( #ategories #onforming to the $ine "#t 2Affi#ial 1a5ette no9 C@D0=4 or the #orresponding wine #lassifi#ation appli#a.le in the #ountr( of origin; 7al8asia spar%ling and petillant wines 2or s(non(ms4 of all <ualit( #ategories #onforming to the $ine "#t 2Affi#ial 1a5ette no9 C@D0=4 or the #orresponding wine #lassifi#ation appli#a.le in the #ountr( of origin; 7al8asia spe#ial wines& namel( dessert& li<ueur and aromatised wines 2or s(non(ms4 of all <ualit( #ategories #onforming to the $ine "#t 2Affi#ial 1a5ette no9 C@D0=4 or the #orresponding wine #lassifi#ation appli#a.le in the #ountr( of origin9

,or the purpose of #ategori5ation and #ontrol of the a.o8e/listed la.els& the definitions set .( the European *nion or .( the #ountr( of produ#tion shall appl(& in a##ordan#e with the "ppendix 6$ine Categorisation6 appended herewith 2"ppendix "49 The Arganiser shall ha8e the right to re/#lassif( the #ategories depending on the num.er of entries9 Article , Organisation &o$$ittee The Arganisation Committee shall #onsist of the 'resident of the Region of Istria and two representati8es of the inistra "sso#iation9 The Arganisation Committee shall use the ser8i#es of a Eotar( 'u.li# to #ontrol the regularit( of all a#ti8ities pro8ided .( the Rules of Competition and espe#iall( the #oding of samples9 Article Scienti+ic &o$$ittee The S#ientifi# Committee shall #onsist of representati8es or emplo(ees of the following entities: Region of Istria& inistra ! "sso#iation of winegrowers and winema%ers of Istria& ,a#ult( of "gri#ulture of the *ni8ersit( in -agre. / 0epartment of iti#ulture and Enolog(& 1raduate Studies of iti#ulture and Enolog( in *dine 2Corso di 3aurea in iti#oltura ed Enologia di *dine4& 'ol(te#hni# of Ri)e%a ! *ndergraduate studies in winema%ing in 'ore+& International *nion of $inema%ers 2*nion Internationale des Fnologues49 Article . The anal(ti#al methods to .e used are #ontained in the Colle#tion of International "nal(ti#al 7ethods for $ine and 7ust9 The report shall .ear the name of the produ#er su.mitting the wine and the name of the wine entered for #ompetition together with all data ne#essar( to identif( the sample9 The Arganiser shall ha8e right to perform anal(ses for #omparison and #ontrol purposes9 The do#umentation should .e deli8ered at the same time and in the same .ox as the samples9 Article 1 Res2onsibilities The organi5ers shall not .e responsi.le for possi.le dela(s in the deli8er( of samples .( the set date& for the loss of all or an( samples during shipping or for the #onditions of samples at deli8er(9 "ll shipment #osts relating to the deli8er( of samples shall .e full( .orne .( the produ#ers su.mitting the samples9 'rior to and during the Competition the Arganiser shall pro8ide a te#hni#all( <ualified person to .e at disposal to the representati8e of the AI 9

Article 13 Acce2tance o+ sa$2les an4 entr! into t5e co$2etition The Exe#uti8e Committee shall set an appropriate s(stem of a##eptan#e of samples in order to ena.le regular performan#e of the #ompetition9 Spe#ial attention shall .e paid to: 19 a##eptan#e of samples and a##ompan(ing do#uments ! all samples whi#h fail to meet the re<uirements referred to in the Rules of Competition shall .e re)e#ted following the de#ision of the Exe#uti8e Committee; 29 registration of deli8ered and a##epted samples ! ea#h sample shall .e gi8en the entran#e num.er& whi#h shall .e #ertified .( the letter of re#eipt; =9 di8ision of samples into #ategories indi#ated in "rti#le 4 shall .e #arried out on the .asis of de#lared #hara#teristi#s or& where ne#essar(& on the .asis of sensor( #hara#teristi#s& in a##ordan#e with the 6$ine Categori5ation6 in#luded in this Rules of Competition 2"ppendix "4; 49 storage of samples in a##ordan#e with good enologi#al pra#ti#e till e8aluation time9 $ine samples& .efore .eing tasted .( the Juries& shall .e made anon(mous .( the use of two #odes: first #ode gi8en to the sample .( the Exe#uti8e Committee upon a##eptan#e 2'oint 2 of this "rti#le4; se#ond #ode gi8en .( the Eotar( 'u.li# prior to the presentation to the tasting Juries9

$ines for whi#h the entr( fee has not .een paid or whi#h for an( reason whatsoe8er fail to meet the re<uirements referred to in the Rules of Competition& shall .e ex#luded from the #ompetition9 The samples whi#h ha8e .een deli8ered .ut ex#luded from the #ompetition on grounds of an( reason shall not .e returned to the sender9 Article 11 Eval#ation $ine tasting will ta%e pla#e on 24 "pril 2014 at the inistra9 The tasting shall .e performed .( Juries #onsisting of se8en mem.ers& of whi#h not more than three shall .e from Croatia9 "ll mem.ers shall .e #ompetent in wine tasting te#hni<ues& the ma)orit( of them .eing oenologists or persons holding an e<ui8alent diploma in the winema%ing se#tor 2e9g9 sommeliers4& while the remaining mem.ers ma( .e persons with affirmed <ualifi#ations in wine tasting 2e9g9 spe#ialised wine and food )ournalists49 The num.er of Juries shall .e defined on the .asis of the num.er and #ategories of entered samples9 7em.ers of the Jur( are designated .( the Exe#uti8e Committee9 The Jurors are designated intuitu personae and ma( onl( .e repla#ed .( the Exe#uti8e Committee9 The Juries shall e8aluate the samples on the .asis of the e8aluation model set in the AI Rules 2Resolution AI ==2"D200C49 Ratings shall .e expressed .( ea#h Juror independentl(& and the final rating shall .e #al#ulated .( a8erage with elimination of the extremes9 'rior to #ommen#ing their wor%& Juries shall .e introdu#ed with the e8aluation method9 7aximum num.er of samples per Jur( shall .e 4>9 $here a sample shall .e 6eliminated6 due to a defe#t .( at least two Jurors& it is #onsidered eliminated9 $here the 'resident of the Jur( #onsiders it to .e ne#essar( or should this .e re<uested .( the ma)orit( of e8aluators& repeated e8aluation #an .e entrusted with another Jur(9 The final rating of the sample shall .e represented .( the arithmeti# mean of single ratings of the se#ond Jur(9 The results of the Jur( are final and #annot .e appealed against9 The Arganiser shall ensure optimum wor%ing #onditions for the Juries& in #omplian#e with the pro8isions of the Resolution AI 2Con#ours ==2"D200C49 Article 12 &on+i4entialit! ,or the purpose of preser8ing the reputation of the produ#ers who ha8e entered the #ompetition& the Argani5er shall dis#lose onl( the list of awarded wines and not the list of all wines or names of parti#ipating produ#ers9 Article 1

A6ar4s an4 &on+erring t5e A6ar4s The minimum num.er of points ne#essar( to grant an award is B0D1009 An the .asis of the points re#ei8ed and the pro8isions of the AI Rules and respe#ting the =0O limit set .( the AI & all wines .elonging to single #ategories shall .e e<uall( awarded the following awards: 1rand 1old 7edal: for the num.er of points that is greater than or e<ual to C2; 1old 7edal: for the num.er of points from B> to C19CC; Sil8er 7edal: for the num.er of points from B2 to B49CC; ?ron5e 7edal: for the num.er of points from B0 to B19CC The "warding #eremon( will ta%e pla#e on C 7a( 2014 within the $ine Exhi.ition 6 inistra 201469 " stand shall .e pro8ided where all produ#ers of awarded wines shall .e allowed to offer the awarded wines to the guests of 6 inistra 2014N Exhi.ition9 "ll awarded wines shall re#ei8e a written #ertifi#ate or 60iploma69 "part from the written #ertifi#ate& the Arganiser of the Competition reser8es the right to award a different %ind of a#%nowledgement to outstanding awards9 Certifi#ates of parti#ipation shall not .e pro8ided9 The re#ei8ed awards #an .e presented in the form of de#oration& sign of award or in the form of the .a#%/la.el& with pre8ious agreement of the Arganiser of the Competition9 The Arganiser of the Competition shall deli8er the list of winners to the national and international press9 The results shall also .e posted to the offi#ial inistra we./site www98inistra9#om9 In order to promote the awarded wines& the Arganiser shall present them in a num.er of press #onferen#es& e8ents and trade fairs9 "wards whi#h shall not .e a##epted during the "ward Ceremon( shall .e shipped to the awarded entrants at the ArganiserPs #ost9 The Arganiser& howe8er& shall not .e responsi.le for an( losses and missed deli8eries9 Article 1* &ontrols In #ase of an( dou.t whatsoe8er& the winners of 6The $orld of 7al8asia6 International Competition shall allow the representati8es of the Arganiser to #arr( out inspe#tions of the #ellar and wine sampling& as the #ase ma( .e9 Should it .e #onfirmed that the Rules of Competition ha8e not .een followed stri#tl(& the #onferred award shall .e withdrawn9 In order to preser8e transparen#( of granting awards& the Arganiser of the Competition shall %eep all do#uments related to wine e8aluation& in#luding the entran#e do#uments& e8aluation forms and samples of awarded wines& for at least one (ear9 Article 1, Acce2tance o+ t5e R#les o+ &o$2etition ?( signing and stamping the Registration ,orm for 6The $orld of 7al8asia6 International Competition& the #ompetitors a##ept the pro8isions #ontained in the Rules of Competition9 Article 1&o$2etent &o#rt an4 Alterations to t5e R#les o+ &o$2etition Should an( litigation arise& the 8enue for all a#tions in a #ourt of #ompetent )urisdi#tion shall .e in 'ore+9 The Arganisation Committee shall ha8e right to alter the Rules of Competition and the date of the #ompetition at an( time where ne#essar(9
