AIX vs Linix

My client is building out a new platform and the hardware guys have proposed Linix for Essbase (V11.1.1.3). Any experience, insight, gotchas or even questions I should ask?

Other than the fact they crash multiple times a week - they love it. Seriously they cannot figure out why they are crashing and has been constant since day 1.

The client wants to make sure that Essbase on Linux versus AIX is just as good (or as Angie might add - just as mysterious).

I have a client that is migrating from AIX v7 to Linux v11 who has about 40 ASO cubes and 20 BSO cubes and things have been progressing very well on the migration. They have approximately 500 end users and they are a multi-billion dollar food services company. Their AIX machine was 20

processors and they used a 24 core Intel machine for their Linux platform -if I recall our jobs run about 25% faster now. The major issues we have come across are EIS in V7 defaults some aggregations for ASO cubes to items which must be hard-coded in V11, V7 and V11 clients must be same version otherwise you will notice V7 crashing V11, and of course we had to update all batch for the new paths. All in all the upgrade has been fairly pain free. Regards, John A. Booth http://www.metavero.com
