Welcome Aboard!
May 1 marks the close of Amtrak’s yearlong celebration of 40 years as America’s Railroad sm. We
marked our 40th year of service with many accomplishments, including passing the 30 million mark
in annual ridership, expanding AmtrakConnect sm Wi-Fi service to 75 percent of our passengers and
introducing our eTicketing program.
As we head into our 41st year of service, Amtrak is focused on building for the future while
continuing to strengthen our current services. We are building the equipment and infrastructure
needed to ensure that our strong growth continues. We are also focused on enhancing your Amtrak
experience through our commitment to deliver better customer service.
Work is progressing on the orders for new equipment that will improve reliability and comfort for our
passengers. Next year, we expect to start taking delivery of 70 new electric locomotives that will be
used on the Northeast Corridor. We also have on order 130 new single-level cars that will be deployed
on long-distance service starting in 2013 and are pursing efforts to expand capacity on our high-
speed Acela Express service. Additionally, we continue to advance our eTicketing program, which will
make it easier for you to make last-minute changes to your travel plans and enable you to print your
eTicket at home.
We take our mission as America’s Railroad seriously, and are proud to connect our riders to more
than 500 communities in 46 states and Canada. We hope that you find this timetable a useful tool in
planning your next train adventure. If you want more information about all of our services across the
country or need help booking a reservation, visit us online at Amtrak.com, download our free iPhone
app, or give us a call at 1-800-USA-RAIL — we’d be happy to help you plan your next trip.
Sincerely,
Joe Boardman
President and Chief Executive Officer
