INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATIONS FOR FACULTY POSITIONS ADVERTISED IN APRIL-MAY 2012 (ADVT/FAC/2012/01) ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
IIIT Bhubaneswar is established as a result of the desire of the Government of Orissa to create a world class Institute of higher learning in Information Technology. The Institute intends to provide best in the class education, research and consulting services. Government of Orissa has provided 23 acres of land in scenic surrounding of Gothapatna in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. The Institute started functioning by offering M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) in the academic session 2007-08. The Institute has moved to its own campus at Gothapatna during August 2009. IIIT Bhubaneswar focuses on rigorous education, quality resources, academic infrastructure, technology adoption and innovation. These initiatives will help IIIT Bhubaneswar achieve preeminence in India and beyond.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The Institute started with M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) with the approval of AICTE from Academic session 2007-08 onwards and five batches of M.Tech are already enrolled. The B.Tech Programme in four disciplines was offered from academic session 2009-2010 with the approval of AICTE. From Academic session 2012-13, the Institute proposes to offer Doctoral programme in various disciplines.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE Engineering & Technology:


Assistant Professor (AGP 6000 and 7000) Assistant Professor (AGP 8000) Associate Professor First Class Bachelors and Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology. No minimum experience required. Candidates expecting the result of the Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology by August 2012 may also apply. Ph.D. degree First Class in Bachelors and Masters level in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology 3 years experience in Teaching/Industry/Research at the level of Lecturer/ Assistant Professor with AGP 6000 or equivalent. Ph.D. degree First class degree at Bachelors and Masters level in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology 8 years of experience in Teaching/Industry/Research out of which 5 years must be at the level of Assistant Professor with AGP 8000 and/or equivalent. Ph.D. degree first class degree at Bachelors and Masters level in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology 10 years of experience in Teaching/Industry/Research out of which 5 years must be at the level of Associate Professor and/or equivalent.

Candidates from Industry/Profession First class degree at Bachelors and Masters level in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology and with Professional work which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D* degree and with 15 years experience of which at least 5 years should be at a Senior Level comparable to that of an Associate Professor would also be eligible.

* To be decided by an expert committee.

Note: 1. If a class/division is not awarded at BE/ME or Equivalent Degree, a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA shall be considered equivalent to first class/division. 2. The following provide some exceptions or clarifications to Appropriate Branch. Computer Science & Engineering and IT: B.Tech in Computer Science /IT followed by M.Tech/Ph.D or B.Tech in Electronics/Electrical Engineering followed by M.Tech/Ph.D in Computer Science. (Candidates with other backgrounds and Ph.D may be considered on the basis of subjects studied, Ph.D topic and post Ph.D experience). Electronics & Communication Engineering: Candidates having B.Tech in Electrical Engineering will be eligible depending on the curriculum covered.

PAY SCALES

Apart from the pay scale and DA, the Institute offers perquisites such as PF, LTA, HRA, Gratuity, Medical Reimbursement, Health Insurance, Books & Magazine allowance, Research incentive, Publication incentive, and assistance for presenting papers in Conferences etc. as per rules of the Institute as applicable to different faculty positions.

GENERAL INFORMATION/ INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES:


1. Faculty positions are available at various levels such as Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor (AGP 6000, 7000 & 8000) in disciplines /departments mentioned above. 2. Candidates applying for more than one Department are required to use separate applications form. 3. Without any compromise on the qualification, experience and competence, reservation as per Government of Orissa norms is applicable. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories should attach certificate obtained from Revenue Authorities not below the rank of Tahasildar or from a First Class Magistrate of the place of origin of the candidates, clearly authenticating the category to which they belong. They must also clearly indicate the category to which they belong in the application form. 4. Besides the basic pay in the applicable time scale of pay of the respective posts, admissible allowances like DA, HRA in accordance with Institute Rules in force from time to time are payable. 5. Experienced and meritorious candidates may be granted higher scale and/or higher starting pay on recommendation of Selection Committee. 6. Retired faculty members may also apply. If selected they shall be taken on contract basis with suitable consolidated pay. 7. Candidates in advanced stage of PhD and having outstanding academic records from reputed institute are encouraged to apply. If selected, such candidates will get the opportunity to complete their PhD with in 3 years from the date of appointment 8. The Institute reserves the right to offer some of the positions on Regular/Contract basis/on deputation. 9. Minimum requirement of experience may be relaxed for outstanding candidates. 10. Mere fulfillment of required qualifications and experience etc; does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview/selection. The Institute reserves the right to consider and fill or not fill any of the positions.

11. The Institute reserves the right to set short listing criteria higher than the minimum advertised, and restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience, higher than those prescribed in this advertisement. 12. All Degree Certificates should be from a recognized University/Institute. 13. Candidates will have to appear for Selection test/Interview at their own cost, if called before a Selection Committee on the date and place which will be separately notified to the candidates. 14. Selected candidates should be prepared to join duty within the time granted. 15. Each application must accompany Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred) only towards application fee, drawn in favour of IIIT BHUBANESWAR payable at Bhubaneswar. 16. The Candidates are required to send only the following enclosures: a. DD for Rs.500/b. Certificate of Proof if belongs to SC / ST / OBC Category. 17. The Candidates must not send any other enclosures except the ones mentioned at (16).
