Training Analysis: With more than 1200 branches all across the country, NBP is one of the leading

banks in Pakistan. Due to the inevitability of banking sector in the present world, the training that I received from NBP is very much beneficial for me. With no reservation, I chose to do internship in NBP because of its volume and the exposures that I would gain. I join NBP branch of NED University located on main university road, Karachi. My branch manager was Mrs. Hina Jabbar ad operational manager was Mr. Raffique Sidduie. The branch has around 20 staff members and all are hardworking and coordinating. They supported me very much during my internship over there. My internship lasted for 6 weeks, as per the requirement, i.e. from July 13th, 2011 to August 24th, 2011. This time period covers 360 working hours and 6 weeks. During my internship, I am to know about the general business dealing of banks and how banks cope up with its clients appropriately. I also came to know about the operational management of bank. I worked in deposit, remittance, foreign exchange, bill department, NED salary and admission department, clearing department and etc. The main and only dealing of bank is financial dealing and I learned during my training about maintaining liquidity, handling cash and cheques appropriately, and recording transactions both manually and computerized. As I was a fresh student with no experience, I also had to face many difficulties during my internship but the staff and colleagues provided me great help based of their professional experience. My training over NBP was restricted to financial operations and dealings but it also provided me experience of how to manage the work force in the organization. It also helped me to maintain a professional behavior in the working environment. This training allowed me to implement practically my skills and knowledge that I have obtained through my qualifications. Work Analysis: NBP is one of the leading banks in Pakistan and, as per my observation, I find that the professional behavior and dedication of its employees and managers are the main reasons for its development. The work force over NBP works as a professional team who see themselves with the goals of NBP. The managers and subordinates work on mutual coordination, they decide their clear goals and targets and get to it. The employees are also allowed to feel free to ask their managers if they have any reservations. This friendly but professional environment is one of the factors that distinguish NBP from all other banks. Also the immediate appraisal activity and feedback also help the staff member to work with more motivations.

Managers, at NBP, appropriately delegate authority to their subordinates. This delegation makes the employees responsible for their own work and also makes them feel of being giving importance. The delegation is also beneficial to employees as it will help them to be promoted to a higher level of management. But all these good factors there are also some drawbacks in NBP. The opportunity of being promoted is not appropriate for the lower level staff. In spite of the fact that delegation of authority does exist in the structure of NBP, the lower staff have little chance to have decision making powers and most of the time they are neglected during decision making and have to follow orders. The basic problems, with which the lower staff is encountered, are: Low pay scale. Low decision making ability.

Recommendations: Although NBP is one of banks that make high profit and are on the way of development, there are some problems that do occur in their organization. NBP should arrange some amendments in their policies to provide job satisfaction to all level of employees and also customer satisfaction with their services. The main problems that are seen and observed during my internship in NBP are: Low pay scale and low decision making power to low level staff. Involvement of subordinates in decision making. Lengthy process of sanctioning advance. Training of staff members. Heavy administration cost. Groups are sometimes become victims of office politics. Few counters to deal with customers.

For the problems listed above, the suggestions are as following: Not only low level staff should pay well as per their efforts but also they should be allowed to make decision regarding their work to some extent. The higher staff should involve their subordinates in the decision making o that each member can give inputs based on his experience and knowledge. NBP should have the same pace as of its rivals. Late advancing of loans may make the clients to go somewhere else. NBP should advance loan on time appropriately. All staff members should be properly trained regarding their technical skills and also with customer dealing. Admin cost should b minimized. This may be done by proper checking of the petty cash and expenses of dealing with day to day operations.

Office politics should be restricted and this may only be done by the senior management setting an example. Groups, whether formal or informal, are very important for any organization. Office politics may hinder these groups to work properly. NBP NED University branch has many customers and clients to deal with at some regular interval of time. These customers and clients include students, teachers, businessmen and depositors. But due to few counters all customers and clients are not entertained properly.

No organization can ever exist if it has no good relations with its clients and employees. NBP should work on their drawbacks to be the number one banking organization in the Pakistan and to keep on providing the best services t its clients.
