Dear Sir, With reference to the tender invited by you for the above works, we are pleased to offer to execute the work under contract at the rates mentioned in the Schedule. We have inspected the site of work, studied the drawings, read the Conditions of Contract, and we agree to complete the work to the specifications and satisfaction of the NID/Architect/Consultants. We enclose herewith Earnest Money Deposit of Rs.7,500/- by Pay Order / Draft No:_________ Drawn on _______________________________________, in favour of National Institute of Design payable at Ahmedabad. We hereby agree that this sum shall be forfeited by us if we fail to execute the contract when called upon to do so in the event of your accepting our tender. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO CONTRACTORS

GENERAL General instructions to Tenderers, Conditions of contract, Standard Conditions of Contract, Special Conditions of Contract, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Quantities, Addenda/Corrigenda etc. shall form part of the Tender and the contract/order documents. Tenders not complying these instructions are liable to be rejected.

SITE VISITS The intended tenderer is deemed to have visited the site of work at his own cost, before submitting the Tender, in order to acquaint himself with the general terrain of site, sub-soil conditions, access to site, working space within allotted premises, and other conditions like availability and quality of water, labour, construction materials and matters related to construction work. Non familiarity with the site conditions will not be considered as the basis for any claim for additional compensation, extension of time for completion, any claim whatsoever or for not carrying out the work in conformity with the drawings and specifications. The Tenderer shall visit the site with prior written permission of Owner/Architect. The tenderer to sign the 'CERTIFICATE OF TENDERER'S VISIT TO THE SITE' as per the format specified in this tender. The information given in this Tender documents are given in good faith and meant only as a guidance. However, it is the responsibility of the Tenderer to check and verify the same prior to submission of Tender. Before tendering, the tenderer shall visit the site and carefully examine the conditions of contract, special conditions, the specifications, schedule of quantities and tender drawings and if there should appear any ambiguity in or discrepancy in any of these documents he shall seek clarification in pre-bid meeting. The enclosed tender drawings are meant to give the general idea of the scope of the work showing several buildings and the nature of the work, however the detail drawings can be inspected from the office of the Architect, M/s KAPADIA + BANKER at 106, Andheri Industrial Estate, Off Veera Desai Road, Andheri, Mumbai 400 053 and/or 18 Embassy Market, Near Dinesh Hall, Ahmedabad 380 009 on working days, between 11.30 am to 5.30 pm Any clarifications required on the tender documents/ drawings may be submitted in writing in pre-bid meeting. The tenderer shall ascertain the locations, size and conditions of the area available for his use as working area, storage and stacking area of materials and equipment and all other information related to this tender. The tender shall be made on the basis of the rates and prices named in the priced schedule of quantities, rates being firm and not subject to any adjustments for any reasons. The schedule gives the details of work to be executed with probable quantities and subject to variation. The contractor should fill in his rates. The quantities provided in the schedule are provisional and meant to indicate the intent of the work and to provide a uniform basis for tendering. All accompaniments to the tender shall be in duplicate.

9. Tenders shall remain open for acceptance by the Institute for a period of three months from the date of submission of the tender. In exceptional circumstances, prior to the expiry of the original tender validity period, the Institute may request the tenderer for a specified extension in the period of validity. The request and the response thereto shall be made in writing. The tenderer may refuse the request without forfeiting his Earnest Money Deposit. A tenderer agreeing to the request shall not be permitted to modify his tender. The tenderer must use only the forms issued by the Architect to fill in the rates. The tender form must be filled in English and all entries must be made in ink. If any of the documents is missing, or unsigned, the tender may be considered invalid by the Institute in its discretion. Rates should be quoted both in figures and words. In case of discrepancy in figure and words written in tender document, the rate written in word will prevail. All erasures and alternations made while filling the tender must be attested by initials of the tenderer. Overwriting of figures is not permitted; failure to comply with either of these conditions may render the tender void at the Institutes option. No advice of any change in rate or conditions after the opening of the tender will be entertained. In case of discrepancy in rate or amount written in tender document, the rate written in word will prevail. Each of the tender documents should be signed by the person or persons submitting the tender in token of his / their having acquainted himself / themselves with Conditions of Contract, specifications, etc. as laid down. Any tender with any of the documents not so signed may be rejected. The tender submitted on behalf of a firm shall be signed by all the partners of the firm to enter into the proposed contract, otherwise the tender may be rejected by the Institute. The tender shall be submitted in duplicate, and the tenderer should clearly indicate on each copy of the tender under their full signature whether it is the original or duplicate copy. The original tender copy shall be kept in the custody of the Institute and duplicate copy shall be kept with the Architect. In case of any discrepancy between two copies, the original copy will prevail. The tenderer shall pay an earnest money deposit, a sum as specified, by a Pay Order/ Demand Draft payable at Ahmedabad in favour of National Institute of Design. A tender which is not accompanied by earnest money deposit may not be considered. EMD will be returned to the tenderer within stipulated time period, if his tender is not accepted. Under no circumstances, earnest money deposit will be accepted in the form of Cash, Cheque, Fixed deposit receipts or Bank or Insurance Guarantee. The Institute does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender and reserves to itself the right to accept or reject any or all the tenders, either in whole or in part without assigning any reasons for doing so. In any circumstances, the contractor will not sublet the entire work to other agency without taking prior consent from the Employer / Architect, and if it will found afterwards, the whole contract will be liable to be cancelled by the Institute on its own discretion. The contractor will designate the person who should be responsible for the work and his position in the Organisation. This information should be given along with the tender The tenderer should return the blank tender document together with the set of the tender drawings even if does not quote the tender.

INSTRUCTIONS 1.0 1.1 Drawings, Specifications & Deviations:

In case of discrepancy between the drawings and specifications, the tenderer shall assume the more stringent of the two and furnish his rates accordingly. The Contractor shall prepare fabrication and working drawings and all work shall be as per the approved working drawings. Approval of drawings does not relieve the Contractor of his responsibility to meet with the intents of the specifications. All such drawings for approval shall be in duplicate. A list of recommended makes of materials and equipment is given herewith as a part of tender document. It is believed that the said makes meets the intents of the specifications and have sufficient field experience behind. However, the tender may propose alternate makes only at the time of tender, furnishing all the technical details, catalogues, usage experience etc. for approval by the Consultants. Any deviation with respect to the item specification / bills of quantity shall be submitted in a separate sheet as per given format with the tender. Tools and Spare Parts: All tools, tackle, scaffolding and staging required for erection and assembly of the equipment and installation covered by the contract shall be obtained by the contractor himself. All other materials such as foundation bolts / anchor fastener, nuts etc. required for the installation shall also be supplied and included in the contract.

Statutory Inspections: The contractor shall be fully responsible for meeting all the statutory obligations & local inspectorate pertaining to the works carried out by them. The contractor should prepare all working drawings and obtain approval of competent authorities and also have the equipment and installation inspected and got approved. All official fees will be paid by the clients directly against demand in writing from the appropriate authority and all other expenses for submission and approval of the various and relevant statutory/bodies shall be embodied in the tender prices. Payment to civil contractor. The electrical Contractor will have to pay to the civil contractor for any work done on behalf of the electrical contractor like laying of pipes, filling of zarries etc.

Temporary wiring Whenever any temporary wiring is done, it has to be done so that all precaution for safeties are taken and temporary wiring shall be also done so that, it is not hazardous to any body. Any accident happening because of temporary or permanent installation, it will be entire responsibility of contractor for all compensation to concerned parties. Clients, architects, consultants will not be responsible for such accidents, mistake etc.

A6 SCOPE OF CONTRACTOR FOR LIGHTNING ARRESTER & EARTHING WORK (1) All the equipments like LA, Insulators & Earthing stripe should be fitted properly as shown in drawing / with help of brass saddle, brass screw, roll plug etc. (2) Proper riveting & tinning process should be done wherever joints are coming. (3) Civil masonry work for earthing & the hinged chamber cover is in the scope of contractor. (4) Proper earthing connection should be done for panels/ distribution board/ equipments.

SCOPE OF CONTRACTOR AFTER COMPLETION OF WORK (1) Earthing resistance test. (2) Any other test required by local electric co. & electrical inspector / client engg. / Consultant is in the scope of contractor. (3) All the equipments, tools, accessories & expense required for above mentioned works & tests are in the scope of contractor.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT

The quantity for measurement will be actual quantity used in electrification:

I)

The contractor shall bear all incidental charges for the storage and safe custody of the materials at site at his own responsibility.

II)

The contractor shall make arrangement at the site of works for safe custody of materials to protect from damage by rain, dampness, fire, theft etc.

III)

In case any materials get damaged the contractor shall replace the same at his own cost.

IV)

The contractor shall furnish to Engineer-in-Charge sufficiently in advance a statement showing his requirements of quantities of materials to be supplied by Owner if any and the time when he will require the same.

V)

A day to day account of the material supplied by Owner/Contractor shall be maintained by the contractor in the agreed Performa.

Application codes for Specification of Electrical works shall be as per those in material Specification and applicable standard.

A7 3. Clearance of site on completion.

On completion of the works, the contractor shall clear away and remove from the site, surplus materials, rubbish and temporary works of every kind and leave the whole site and works clean and in workman like condition to the satisfaction of Owner at his own cost. If the contractor fails to clear the site within 15 days after virtual completion/ submission of final bill whichever is earlier, it shall forfeit all his claims and the owner may get the site cleared at contractors cost.

Engineer In-charge / PMC will provide operative instructions on regular basis related to project during contract execution period, which are not covered in this tender document. Contractor and his staff at site shall comply all these instructions.

Client's approval will be final in all concerned matters.

All correspondences between contractor and architect will be through client / PMC.

The Electrical contractor must be licensed Electrical contractor.

8.

The Electrical contractor must have available all kind of necessary equipments at site.

9.

The Electrical contractor should get approval prior to appoint any sub agencies for specialized jobs. Client / Consultant / Architect have right to reject any contractor at any stage of project.

10.

It is required that all insurance formalities & workmans compensation policy should be followed by the contractor.

The contractor will have to provide senior Electrical site engineer during the execution of work

All wiring person must be in possession of wireman license.

13.

Minimum Criteria for selecting Electrical contractor.


1. The Electrical contractor must be licensed Electrical contractor.

2. The Electrical contractor must have available all kind of necessary equipments at site.

3. The Electrical contractor must have completed following kind of jobs under one project head in last 3 years.

SITC of Lightning Arrester System as per IS 2309 complete in all respect.

A8 SITC of external lighting like poles, cables, cable trenches etc.

4. The contractor will have to provide: Minimum one senior Electrical site engineer B.E. with more then 10 years experience. Minimum one junior Electrical site engineer D.E.E. with more then 5 years experience. All wiring person must be a supervisor level grade.

5. Emphasis will be given to the contractor venders who had already completed similar kind & Magnitude projects of similar type of renowned client / Architect.

Mode of submission of Tender

1. Sealed tenders in duplicate should be addressed to The Secretary & Head, General Administration, National Institute of Design, Paldi, Ahmedabad 380 007 and super scribed Tender for Lightning Arrester System Work for Existing Buildings of PG Campus at Gandhinagar Phase I for National Institute of Design- Original / Duplicate and sent so as to reach him not later than 3.00 PM on the date indicated in the tender invitation letter. 2. The tender should be submitted in duplicate, and the tenderer should clearly indicate on each copy of the tender under their full signature whether it is the original or duplicate copy. 3. Main envelope shall contain the tender documents in two sets original and duplicate and the Earnest money deposit in separate cover as specified. The tender without EMD will not be processed further. 4. Pre bid meeting will be held on the date and time indicated in the tender invitation letter, in the office of The Secretary & Head, General Administration, National Institute of Design, Paldi, Ahmedabad 380 007 before submission of the tender documents, in the presence of The Secretary & Head and/or his officials designated for the purpose, the Architect and/or his representative and the tenderers or their representatives who chose to remain present. Contents of tender documents including tender drawings will thoroughly be examined by the tenderer before Pre-bid meeting. 5. Any clarifications required on the tender documents/ drawings may be submitted in writing in pre-bid meeting. 6. All tenderers, in this meeting, shall come with the list of clarifications - general, technical and financial, they seek in the tender document and any other information called for the tender documents or which the tenderer would like to submit along with the tender. The employer, in consultation with the Architect will clarify the issues in the meeting or shall inform all tenderers of any modifications in the tender within stipulated time from the Pre- bid meeting. 7. Then all tenderers shall withdraw all other conditions / clarification presented and /or discussed in the meeting and indicate in a separate letter in duplicate to be submitted in a sealed envelope, along with the submission of the tender documents that the modifications are acceptable. These modifications shall form the part of tender documents. 8. The tenderer may then submit the unconditional tender and fill in their rates in, considering these modifications. 9. Conditional tender other than accepted modifications by the employer may be rejected on his discretion

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSION OF TENDER

Complete set of blank Tender document (in duplicate) including Technical Bid, Commercial Bid and tender drawings will be issued by Owner to the Tenderer. The Tenderer shall complete the following procedure before submitting the Tender. a) All signatures in Tender document shall be dated, as well as the pages of all sections of Tender Document shall be initialed at the lower right hand corner and signed wherever required in the tender papers by the tenderers or by a person holding power of attorney authorizing him to sign on behalf of the Tenderer. The Tenderer should fill in the competitive rates for each item of work, in English, both in figures as well as in words. The amount for each item should be worked out and requisite total shall be given page wise, section wise, etc. If some discrepancies are found between the rates given in words and figures of the amount shown in the Tender, the following procedure shall be followed: 1) When there is a difference between the rates in figures and words, the rate which corresponds to the amount worked out by the Tenderer shall be taken as correct. When the rate quoted by the Tenderer in figures and words tallies but the amount incorrect, the rate quoted by the Tenderer shall be taken as correct. When it is not possible to ascertain the correct rate as prescribed above, then the rate in words shall be adopted.

All corrections and alterations in the entries of Tender papers will be signed in full by the Tenderer with date. No erasures or over-writing are permissible. The Tender sum and pricing of bill of quantities shall be given in Indian Currency. The tender shall contain the name, residence and place of business of person or persons quoting the Tender and shall be signed by the Tenderer with his usual signature. Partnership firms shall furnish the full names of all partners in Tender. It should be signed in the partnership's name by all the partners or by duly authorized representative followed by the name and designation of the person signing. Tender by a corporation shall be signed by an authorized representative, and a Power of Attorney in that behalf shall accompany the Tender. A copy of constitution of the firm with the names of all partners shall be furnished. Tenderers are advised to quote strictly as per terms and conditions and specifications contained in the Tender Document.

Mode of Opening of Tender

1. The tender documents will be opened at 4.00 PM on the last date of submission of the tender in the office of The Secretary & Head, General Administration, National Institute of Design, Paldi, Ahmedabad 380 007, in the presence of the Secretary & Head or his officials designated for the purpose, the Architect or his representative and the tenderers or their representatives who chose to remain present. 2. The contents of the tender documents and tendered amount only will be read out for all tenderers. 3. On receipt of intimation from the employer of the acceptance of his / their tender, the successful tenderer/s shall be bound to implement the contract and within one month thereof the successful tenderer/s shall sign an agreement in accordance with the draft of Articles of Agreement forming part of this tender and schedule of conditions. However, the written acceptance (Work order) by the Institute directly or through its Architect, will constitute a binding agreement between the Institute and the persons so tendering whether such formal agreement is or is not subsequently executed.

B. Condition of Contract

B1 ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT made at Ahmedabad this day the _______________2008 between the National Institute of Design, Paldi, Ahmedabad 380 007 (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) on the one art and M/s. ________ registered under the Indian Company's Act and having its office at ______________________________ (hereinafter called the Contractors on the other part, which expression shall mean, unless the context so admits and include the partners or the partner for the time being of the firm and their respective heirs, executors and administrators) and WHEREAS the Institute is desirous of having Work of Electrical Installation Works Lightning Arrester System at PG Campus for National Institute Design, Gandhinagar for National Institute of Design at their PG Campus, Gandhinagar as specified in the Tender Document issued and whereas the Contractor has agreed with the Institute for the performance of the said works as a contract work of labour more clearly specified in the Tender Document upon certain terms and conditions hereinafter provided and whereas the parties are desirous of reducing to writing the terms and conditions of the contract on which the Contractor has agreed with the Institute for the performance of said work, now it is hereby agreed by and between the parties hereto as under: 1) The contractor shall duly perform and execute the said works as per description , quality, quantity and rates specified in the Tender Document in accordance and in all respects with the specifications, designs, drawings, and instructions in writing referred to in the Tender Document, and the Letter of Intent issued to the Contractor subsequently. Security Deposit: The Contractor shall on or before the execution of this agreement deposit an earnest money with the Institute a sum of Rs.7500 (Rupees Seven thousand five hundred only). In addition of earnest money deposit paid along with the tender, the contractor, whose tender is accepted, will have to deposit an additional amount, by DD, with in two weeks time from the date of accepting tender so that total sum including EMD will be equivalent to 2% of the his / their contract amount as security deposit. The amount will be held by the Institute as Security Deposit till the successful completion of the work. This amount shall not bear any interest. For further security for the due fulfillment of the contract by the contractor, 5% of the value of the work done will be deducted by the employer from each running bill towards retention money. On the Architects issuing a certificate of the Virtual Completion of the Works, the contractor would be paid 50% of the security deposit and the remaining 50% will be released by the employer after rectification of the defects, if any, pointed out during the Defects Liability Period. The amount retained by the employer shall not bear any interest. This deposit will be forfeited by the Institute if the contractor does not complete the work. The Institute shall hold these amounts as security deposit as a guarantee for the timely and proper performance of this contract by the Contractor. The contractor agrees and authorises the Institute to deduct in part or in full all such security deposits and any other dues of the contractor for any work done or towards any damages suffered by the Institute either on account of or incidental to this agreement or as liquidity damages for breach of any clause of this agreement or for non compliance of the work entrusted to the Contractor as per this agreement read with the said Tender Document and Letter of Intent as per the stipulated time, quality and workmanship. In addition, the Contractor further agrees to compensate for any damages or on account of non-fulfillment or breach of any clause of this agreement and/or work order under this contract beyond the security deposit and retention money and other dues of the contractor in the event of unreasonably delayed postponement of the work or abandonment of the work, a sum as may be determined towards the damages by the Executive Director of the Institute. Nevertheless the total amount by way of

B2 compensation / damages for the work remaining uncommenced or unfinished on the due date shall not exceed 10% of the amount of the estimated cost of the whole work) 3) Manner and period in which the works are to be carried out : The contractor agrees and undertakes to duly perform and complete the said works set forth in the Tender document and subsequent amendments, if any, issued in writing from time to time. The said works shall throughout the stipulated period of contract be proceeded with all due diligence, promptness, care and accuracy and in a work-man like manner to the satisfaction of the Institute and will be completed in accordance with the said specification, designs, drawings and instructions on or before the aforesaid due date, time being the essence of the contract on the part of the Contractor. Supervision of work: The Contractor shall keep constantly at the work site a competent Engineer or such other competent Supervisor as may be required promptly to set the work and any direction or explanation given by the Institute's authorised representative to such person shall be held to have been given to the Contractor. Inspection of work: Inspection will be made periodically during the progress of the work by the authorised representative of the Institute and all materials and workmanship must be of acceptable quality and efficiency to the said representative who will be the sole judge. If the progress of any particular portion of the work is unsatisfactory, the Institute shall not withstanding the fact that the general progress of the work is satisfactory, be entitled to take action under Clause 35 of the Institute's General Conditions of Contract, after giving the Contractor 15 days' notice in writing and the Contractor will have no claim for compensation for any loss sustained by him owing to such action. All works under or in course of execution or executed in pursuance of this contract shall at all times be open to the inspection and supervision of the Institute and their authorised representative and Architect. The Contractor shall at all times during usual working hours and at all other times after having received reasonable notice, allow the Institute and their authorised representatives and Architect to visit the work and carry out the necessary orders and instruction. Measurement of the work: As soon as the item of work is completed, notice thereof should be given forthwith by the Contractor to the Institute. A representative of the Institute will then measure the work completed and record the measurements in ink in his measurement book, which record in the measurement book will alone constitute the basis for payment for such work by the Institute to the Contractor. Provisional payments : No payment shall be made for any works till after the whole of the works shall have been completed and a certificate of completion is given. The Institute may, however, at their option pay to the Contractor on their submitting a provisional bill thereof any amount proportionate to the part of the work then approved and passed by the Institute, less 5 percent of the said amount, and the certificate of such approval and passing of the sums so payable shall be final and conclusive against the Contractor. All such intermediate payments shall be regarded as payments by way of advance against the final payments only and not as payments for work actually done and completed and shall not preclude the Institute from requiring any bad, unsound, imperfect or unskilled work to be removed and taken away and reconstructed or reerected, nor shall any payment be considered as an admission of the due performance of the contractor or any part thereof.

Final payment : The final bills shall be submitted by the Contractor within 3 months of the date fixed for completion of the work, along with the Institute Engineer's/Architects/Consultant's certificate of the measurements and of the total amount payable by the Institute, shall be final and binding on all parties. Receipts for payments from partnership firms : Receipts for payments made on account of a work when executed by a firm of partnership, must also be signed by the several partners, except where the contractors are described on their tender as a firm, in which case the receipts must be signed in the name of the firm by one of the partners, or by some other person having authority to give effectual receipts for and on behalf of the firm. The Contractor shall ensure that his men deputed for the above work at the Institute premises are insured against all risks. The Contractor undertakes the liability and hereby indemnifies the Institute in respect of all causes of actions, claims, damages, compensation of costs, charges and expenses arising out of any accident or injury sustained by the Institute or any staff member or guest of the Institute or the workmen and guest of the Contractor whether in employment of the Contractor or not while in or upon the said work or area, arising out of any act, default or negligence, error in judgment on the part of the Contractor or on the part of his workmen and agents.

The contractor agrees to obtain necessary license under the Contract Labour ( Abolition and Regulations Act) from the competent authority for engaging contract labour for the work under this agreement and also to comply with various rules and provisions2 under the said Act. The contractor also undertakes to comply with all other labour legislation and Acts such as Minimum Wages Act, Workmen's Compensation Act, Payment of Wages Act, Provident Fund Act, ESIS etc. and indemnifies the Institute against any liability arising on account of breach of any provisions of such acts/rules as applicable to the Contractor for its personnel on duty in the campus in connection with and incidental to the said work under this agreement. The contractor shall ensure that his engineers / representatives / staff/ workers coming to the campus in connection with and incidental to the work under this agreement conduct themselves properly and obey all security and safety regulations of the Institute. They will ensure that they will carry necessary identity cards and also give a list of such persons coming to the campus and engaged on the work under this agreement to the said engineer/authorised representative of the Institute. The Institute shall be entitled to determine this agreement and discharge the contract, without prejudice to other rights and remedies available to him, if the Contractor shall become insolvent or fails and/or neglects to carry out instructions on his behalf or to complete the work or suspend the same or delay the progress thereof without reasonable cause or suffers or allows any execution or attachment levied on the properties at the site or refuse or persistently neglects to make good the site or refuse or persistently neglects to make good the defective work, if any, or if, without the written consent of the Institute, the contractor shall assign or sublet his contract.

B4 14) In case of termination of this agreement and/or discharge of the contractor as herein above stipulated, the Institute shall be entitled to appoint a new contractor or contractors to continue and complete the said work given to the said contractor, or additions to the said work, if any, according to the said plans and specifications or any deviations there from and authorise him to use any plans, materials/tools and property of the contractor left upon the site and the contractor shall in such case lose and forfeit all his interest whatsoever under this contract except his claim from moneys unpaid on settlement of account between the parties or difference of all his bills, less damages payable to the Institute as mentioned at clause 2 above. Bill to be in the Institute's prescribed forms : The Contractor shall submit their bills only in the form prescribed by the Institute as per specimen given in the Annexure to the Institute's General Conditions of Contract. These forms can be had on application from the Institute representatives. Agreement to be subject the Institute's General Conditions of Contract: This agreement is subject to the Institute's General Conditions of contract in so far as the same is not in consistent with the above clauses, a copy of which general conditions would be deemed to have been studied and agreed to by the contractor before their signing this agreement. This agreement is subject to the special conditions stipulated in our Tender Document letter of Intent and subsequent amendment, if any issued from time to time, in so far they are not inconsistent with the terms and conditions of this agreement.

All codes and standards mean the latest. Where not specified otherwise the installation shall generally follow the Indian Standard Code of Practice or the British Standard Codes of Practice in absence of Indian standard. GENERAL All the noncurrent carrying metal parts of the electrical installation and mechanical equipments shall be earthed properly. The metal conduits, trunking, cables armoured and sheath, electric panels boards, lighting fixtures, ceiling and exhaust fan and all other parts made of metal shall be bonded together and connected by means of specified earthing system. An earth continuity conductor shall be installed with all the feeders and circuits and shall be connected from the earth bar of the panel boards, to the conduit system, earth stud of the switch box, lighting fixture, earth pin of the socket outlets and to any metallic wall plates used. All the enclosures of motors shall be also connected to the earthing system.

TYPE OF EARTHING STATION PLATE EARTHING STATIONS The substation earthing shall be with copper plate earthing station and equipment earthing grid shall be with hot dip galvanized iron earthing station. The plate electrode shall be 600 x 600 x 3.25 mm copper plate or shall be of hot dip galvanized iron plate having dimensions 600 x 600 x 6.3 mm thick. The earthing station shall be as shown on the drawing. The earth resistance shall be maintained with suitable soil treatment as shown in the drawing. The resistance of each earth station should not exceed 4 ohms.

The earth lead shall be connected to the earth plate through copper/brass bolts in case of copper earth plate and shall be hot dip galvanized iron for G.I. plate earth plate as shown on the drawing.

The earthing grid and the earthing conductors shall be of copper strip in case of copper earth plate and hot dip galvanized iron strip in case of G.I. earth plate of size as mentioned on the drawing. G.I. pipe with funnel with filter of approved quality shall be used for watering the earthing electrodes \ stations. The block masonry chamber with Cast Iron hinged cover of 300 x 300 mm shall be provided for housing the funnel and the pipe for watering the earthing electrodes \ stations.

4.1.10 The hardware and other consumable for earthing installation shall be of copper/brass in case of copper earth plate and shall be hot dip galvanized iron material in case of G.I. earth plate, as per details shown in the drawing . 5.0 5.1 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION : The plate \ pipe electrode, as far as practicable, shall be buried below permanent moisture level but in no case not less than 2.5 M below finished ground level. The plate \pipe electrode shall be kept clear of the building foundation and in no case, it shall be nearer by less than 2 M from outer face of the respective building wall \ column. The plate electrode shall be installed vertically and shall be surrounded with 150 mm. thick layers of Charcoal dust and Salt mixture. G.I. pipe for watering, shall run from top edge of the plate \ pipe electrode to the mid level of block masonry chamber. Top of the pipe shall be provided with G.I. funnel and screen for watering the earth \ ground through the pipe. The funnel with screen over the G.I. pipe for watering to the earth shall be housed in a block masonry chamber as shown in the drawing. The masonry chamber shall be provided with a Cast Iron hinged cover resting over the Cast Iron frame which shall be embedded in the block masonry. Construction of the earthing station shall in general be as shown in the drawing and shall conform to the requirement on earth electrodes mentioned in the latest edition of Indian Standard IS : 3043, Code of Practice for Earthing Installation. The earth conductors ( Strips / Wires copper/ Hot dip G.I.) inside the building shall properly be clamped / supported on the wall with Galvanized Iron clamps and Mild Steel Zinc Passivated screws \ bolts. The conductors outside the building shall be laid at least 600 mm. below the finished ground level. The earth conductors shall either terminate on earthing socket provided on the equipment or shall be fastened to the foundation bolt and / or on frames of the equipment. The earthing connection to equipment body shall be done after removing paint and other oily substances from the body and then properly be finished. Over lapping of earth conductors during straight through in joints, where required, shall be of minimum 75mm. long. The earth conductors shall be in one length between the earthing grid and the equipment to be earthed.

EARTH LEADS AND CONNECTIONS : Earth lead shall be bare copper or galvanized steel as specified with sizes shown on drawings. Copper lead shall have a phosphor content of not over 0.15 %. Galvanized steel buried in the ground shall be protected with bitumen and hessian wrap or polytene faced hessian and bitumen coating. At road crossing necessary hume pipes shall be laid. Earth lead run on surface of wall or ceiling shall be fixed on saddles so that strip is atleast 8 mm away from the wall surface. The complete earthing system shall be mechanically and electrically bonded to provide an independent return path to the earth source. EQUIPMENT EARTHING : All apparatus and equipment transmitting or utilizing power shall be earthed in the following manner. Copper/G.I. earth strips/wires shall be used unless other wise indicated in the Schedule B.

POWER TRANSMISSION APPARATUS Metallic conduit shall not be accepted as an earth continuity conductor. A separate insulated / bare earth continuity conductor of size 50 % of the phase conductor subject to the minimum and maximum shall be provided. The earth continuity conductor be drawn inside the conduit shall be insulated. 8.2 Non metallic conduit shall have an insulated earth continuity conductor of the same size as for metallic conduit. All metal junction and switch boxes shall have an inside earth stud to which the earth conductor shall be connected. The earth conduct or shall be distinctly coloured (Green or Green/Yellow) for easy identification. Armoured cable shall be earthed by two distinct earth connections to the armouring at both the ends and the size of connection being as for the metallic conduit. In the case of unarmoured cable, an earth continuity conductor shall either be run outside along with the cable or should form a separate insulated core of the cable. Three phase power panel and distribution boards shall have two distinct earth connections of the size correlated to the incoming cable size. In case of single phase DB's a single earth connection is adequate. For single phase motors and apparatus, the single earth connection shall be provided of the above size. For all light fittings and fans a single earth connection with 1.5 sqmm copper or equivalent size shall be provided.

All street light poles shall have an earth stud and shall be connected to the cable armouring using 6.5 sqmm copper or equivalent unless shown otherwise. For street lighting poles planted in ground, 2.4 M long 10 SWG bare copper wire shall be coiled and buried with every fourth pole in addition to connection to cable armouring. An equipment earthing grid shall be established as shown in the drawing. All earth connections to all panels, DB's and equipment shall be connected to the nearest point of the earthing grid. TEST : The entire earthing installation shall be tested as per requirements of Indian Standard Specification IS : 3043. Earth conductor resistance for each earthed equipment shall be measured which shall not exceed 1 Ohm in each case. This is responcibility of contractor to get the final value for resistance. Measurements of earth resistance shall be carried out before earth connections are made between the earth and the object to be earthed. All tests shall be carried out in presence of the consultant.. METHOD OF MEASUREMENT : Provision of earthing station complete with excavation, plate, earth lead upto chamber, earth link in the chamber, electrode, GI watering pipe, Salt, Charcoal, soil treatment to achieve the earth resistance less than 4 ohm, masonry chamber with cast iron cover etc. shall be treated as one unit of measurement. The following items of work shall be measured and paid per unit length covering the cost of the earth wires/strips, clamps, labour etc. a) b) main equipment earthing grid and connection to the earthing stations. Material Should confirm E - 14. 2.) Workmanship Earthing Strips shall be laid along with the cables and mains as instructed by the consultant and along the path of the cable. The strips shall be terminated at both the ends properly via breezing / SS nut and bolts with double washer screws and nuts as instructed by the consultant. Strips shall not be bend to and extent that they go brittle. 3.) Mode of measurement

The rate shall be considered on meter basis and the quantity shall be certified by the engineer in charge from Clients side. 14.3 Earth Link: Supply & Fixing of 50mm x 6 mm earth link with necessary screws on wall. 1.) Material Should confirm E - 14. 2.) Workmanship The links shall be done properly so that after the installation is complete they do not get detached. Proper screwing shall be done so as to avoids gaps and maximum area overlap is available. 3.) Mode of measurement The rate shall be for one unit of earth link.

14.4 Lighting Arrestor: Supply, Installation of complete set of lighting arrester as per I.S 2309. 1.) Material Should confirm E 14, A SAMPLE TO BE APPROVED BEFORE EXECUTION. 2.) Workmanship As per IS & instruction of engineer incharge / consultant. Proper screwing shall be done so as to avoid gaps and maximum area overlap is available.

3.) Mode of measurement The rate shall be for one set complete, the strips will be measured separately & paid in respective item, but the required wall insulators etc should be considered in this item, no extra charges will be paid for the same.

We hereby guarantee the year round Electrical System which we have installed in the Complex described below:

For a period of ______om the date of acceptance of the total installation, WE AGREE TO repair or replace to the satisfaction of the Owner, any or all such work that may prove defective in workmanship, equipment or materials within that period, ordinary wear and tear and unusual abuse or neglect excluded, together with any other work, which may be damaged or displaced in so doing. In the event of our failure to comply with the above mentioned conditions within a reasonable time, after being notified in writing, we collectively and separately, do hereby authorize the Owner to proceed to have the defects repaired and made good at our expense, and we shall pay the cost and charges thereof, immediately upon demand WE ALSO HEREBY UNDERTAKE to test the entire installation upon completion and ensure that all units are functioning satisfactorily.
