As conference chairpersons, we encourage you to attend the 2012 SPE Americas Unconventional Resources Conference, to be held 57 June 2012 in Pittsburgh. The theme and focus of this conference is Enabling Unconventional ResourcesDiscovery to Recovery. The program committee has developed an outstanding technical program, from which the following sessions evolved: Session 01: Emerging TechnologiesWhats Here and Whats Coming Session 02: Formation Evaluation & Dynamic Characterization Methods Session 03: Unconventional Resource Field Studies Session 04: Modeling Reservoir Performance Session 05: Multi-Stage Completion and Stimulation Practices A special sequence of ePoster presentations will be given throughout the conference which provides both depth and breadth beyond the traditional session format. In contrast to past gas-focused conferences, this conference will also address the technologies related to shale oil or liquids-rich shale systems. Due to popular demand, the conference has returned to a single-track, 2.5-day conference. Participants will be able to experience a continuum of technologies relevant to unconventional reservoir systems. The technical program is comprised of a unique blend of theoretical studies, practical applications and field implementationall with a focus on enabling unconventional reservoir developments. Professionals in fields ranging from asset and project management; reservoir engineering and evaluation; and production and well completions will benefit from attending this preeminent conference concerning unconventional resources. instructor: David Anderson This course provides attendees with a comprehensive methodology for well performance analysis with specific focus on unconventional oil and gas. The approach combines the use of several powerful techniques and will illustrate the practical aspects of production data analysis. Laptops are required.

This course teaches the skills and understanding needed to forecast production and estimate reserves in unconventional (ultra-low permeability) gas reservoirs. Although the course emphasizes gas shale and tight gas formations, some of the material also applies to oil reservoirs. Youll learn the basic theories that describe how fluids move through a reservoir as well as some of the most common drilling and completion techniques for recovering them. Laptops are required.
