2012 Community Festival Guide


Enclosed you will find a list of many of our community festivals taking place this year. Further information can also be found at: http://windsorite.ca/festivals/ or by calling the City of Windsor at 311. You will also find enclosed a Canadian flag for your own use which can be placed in your window or brought to the Canada Day Parade here in Windsor this July 1. It is my hope that you, your family and friends can participate in some of our local festivals this year. More information on our local Canada Day celebrations can be found at: www.summerfestwindsor.org, and I have included contact information and website links for the Windsor festivals on the back of this flyer. I hope to see many of you around the city this summer and please do not hesitate to contact my office at 519-255-1631 should you have any further questions on this guide. SUMMERFEST 2012
Summerfest 2012 runs from June 13July 1. Some highlights include:
June 16July 1: Buskers on the Midway (Riverfront) June 2223: 1812 Commemoration with a visit from Tall Ship Appledore IV. Includes re-enactments, story tellers, first nations drummers, ship tours and more. Full schedule available online. June 25: 54th Annual Target Fireworks (fireworks begin at 10:06 p.m.) July 1: Happy Canada Day! Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. with giant cake cutting at 1:00 p.m. at Fred Thomas ParkWyandotte & Glengarry. July 1: Symphony of Sound and Light. This new event will rebroadcast the June 25 fireworks on a 70-foot screen with musical selections chosen for this event. (Festival Plaza).
