Amalia : Yes! If only they werent being so picky about their food! Another animal which is close to extinction is the pangolin. Pangolins are nocturnal animal, and are similar in appearance to ant eaters, with only exception that they have scales which cover their body. They are found mostly in Africa and Southeast Asia. Due to their use in medicines and loss of their natural habitats, their number is quickly dwindling. Besides that, I also find that it is really cruel that pangolins are served openly in restaurants and traded for in market, despite the fact that they are forbidden for hunt or trade! The animals are often kept alive in the restaurant until ordered, and then they will be bludgeoned, brutally slaughtered, boiled and served. Amni : Just thinking of that makes me feel queasy. Why are people so cruel to these innocent animals? Amalia : Although many wish it is not so, these illegal actions are still taking place in many parts of the world. Another good example is the tiger. The main predator of the tiger is humankind. They have been trapped, poisoned and hunted heavily by humans not only to eliminate threats to livestock, but also to make accessories such as handbags and fur coats. Amni : Yes! Very often I hear of the tigers being one of the most endangered animals in the world. Another reason which is contributing to the near extinction of this animal is the fact that human have altered the natural habitats of tigers by their destruction and encroachment on the tigers feeding range ; humans are also destroying their habitats by cutting down trees, moving into their preferred locations, polluting the water and air, and hunting their prey. Amalia : The animals that we have listed are only to name a few. I wished we could do something to help before these animals become extinct! Amni : But, there are things that we can do to help them! For example, we can help by donating our money to organizations which are doing their part in saving these animals. Also, we can sacrifice our time and volunteer to help out in organizations such as these. We would certainly make a difference that way. Amalia : Yes, Indeed! I also think that more nature reserves or wilderness areas should be set up all over the world! More animals would be preserved and saved that way! We can help by funding projects like these! Also, we should stop supporting the illegal hunting of animals by preventing ourselves from buying anything which is made out of animal parts like skin, teeth and fur. Amni : Yes, let us do our best to help endangered animals! Alright then, our task has been finished. Amalia : Right! Now, what shall we eat? Im starving. Ah! My mom made some curds this morning. What flavor do you prefer? I like cappuccino. Amni : Well, one milk curd for me, please! Amalia : Coming right up!
