January 2009 Newsletter

President’s Message
Can you believe that it is already 2009? It seems hard to believe that the New Year is upon us. Many of us
succumb to making resolutions and promises to make this the best year that we can. While searching the net I
found the website About.com where they list the most popular New Year’s resolutions. I would like to share
them with you:

Spend more time with family and friends

Find time to be more fit and healthy
Lose Weight
Quit smoking
Enjoy Life More
Quit Drinking
Get out of Debt
Learn Something New
Help Others (Volunteerism)
Get Organized

Scanning the list you may have found some resolutions that you have made for this year. It’s funny how so
many of us set out to accomplish the same things each year, but have a hard time following through. Then it
occurred to me that many of us can be successful in accomplishing our resolutions simply by being involved
with our MOM’S Club. For example, volunteerism is easy to do simply by donating a coat or winter outer
wear to the coat drive this month. Spending more time with family and friends is also easy when you think
about how every event and meeting gives you a chance to catch up with old friends while spending quality
time with your children.

Being more fit and losing weight is easier to do when you meet up with friends in the walking club or even
meet up at the gym to take a class together. You can learn something new by attending Kristen Robbins
knitting and crochet outing this month. She will teach us the ins and outs of how to make a beautiful scarf or
blanket for ourselves or to give as a gift to someone. Lastly, getting organized is only a MNO away since
Amy Nelson is hosting an organization seminar on the evening of January 15th at her home. Since this is a non
MOM’S club event, anyone who is interested in getting control of the clutter in their lives is invited to attend.
Contact Amy Nelson (mitchandamynelson@comcast.net) if you are interested in attending ($5 fee per person).

Now you see why our MOM’S Club can help make this the year that you finally stick to your guns and fulfill
the resolutions that you have made. By doing this you may succeed in enjoying life more - yet another
resolution on the list. Together as a MOM’S Club we can make this year the best one yet! Have a Happy
New Year and a wonderful 2009!

Your president,
Nina Garcia

Please note that neither MOMS Club® International nor MOMS Club® of Woodstock-South collectively endorses any of these
companies. MOMS Club® International recommends that local chapters adopt a blanket rule stating that no member may solicit
sales at meetings or group functions. The MOMS Club® of Woodstock-South wholeheartedly endorses this recommendation.
Selling takes away from the purpose of the club—getting moms together in an accepting no-pressure environment. If you have a
submission, contact Dana Woods at danarwood@msn.com.
