Because alliteration can't be wrong!

I am a University student from Leicester UK and I am just to thank you for publicising your Dump Starbucks campaign due to their open disregard for the heterosexual struggle to keep marriage sacred. Since I saw this campaign, me and my university friends redoubled our efforts to support Starbucks and raise awareness for civil marriages across the globe because you are writing

have wrong...

I wanted to start my manifesto with this quote because its all about action for LGBTQ rights. I wrote this a couple of months ago to Nation for Marriage in the USA and it's a good way to start what I have to say here because I believe that the key to being campaigns officer is acting on may fronts. I don't want to go on about things I've already done because it's what I' going to do that will impact the LGBTQA and therefore you. So here are my thoughts.

THE INTERWEB! Being the web generation, we have endless streams of data and campaigning opportunities at our finger tips. If I were campaigns officer, I would plan to set up a second LGBTQA group page for thoughts and plans for campaigns so they wouldn't get lost in the rainbow tide that is our main wall and/or keep constant documents on the main groups

'Files' page so that members have instantaneous access to campaign material. I doubt that I am the only one who receives email from groups such as AllOut and Pink News, so I think it's be great to get all these pre existing web campaigns pinned down in one place and a second 'campaign specific' Facebook page could give somewhere for these links to be.

THE REAL WORLD- Home and Away In university we already have a nice SU presence with campaigns but we can still make more of ourselves and I think the best way to build on this is to create an action group. In a meeting a little more formal than Tea we could get like minded activists together, plan campaigns, make posters, write letters, and talk about those issues which we want to pursue next. Meeting specifically to discuss action gives a whole new level of drive without have to infringe on committee meetings or social events. Outside Uni I'd like to help get our LGBTQA to collaborate with DMU more on campaigning rather than just socials, and even help connect up with the Leicester LGBT Centre. The more the merrier! Networking is an awesome way to meet new people and to get stuff done! Even further afield I would like to make an important part of our campaigning making sure members who want to can get to rallies, protests and marches, spreading the noisy members across the country (or at least the midlands). Even where it isn't possible to finance, it wouldn't hurt to help encourage and point out different events going on, posting them on the Facebook, in the common room and wherever else there is some form of wall! I've been to two prides so far, they're well worth it but as an LGBTQA we can bring the numbers!

PRODUCT PLACEMENT Since there are so many lovely people in the world, like the makers of this magical little

biscuit, I believe that as well as campaigning reactively towards discrimination, we should also run campaigns that reward acceptance and support from the outside world. Actions such as buying products from Starbucks, Oreo or Ben and Jerry and then sending them a thank you from the LGBTQA would give a little balance on our campaign front, make everyone feel good and make a great excuse to it silly amounts of biscuits.

ORIGAMI Being an English student the written word is quite important to me, but I also get that too many of them in a row (like this for example) can get tiresome and people get distracted. So posters! Posters are the answer. If elected I would like to gather the LGBTQAs finest to run a poster campaign that would mirror the Stonewall So when did you decide to be straight?. Everything from every angle of LGBTQ discrimination, turn it on it's head and get them into all the accommodations and main buildings.

Overall though, I believe that as campaigns officer I could help other people find their voice. Through communicating with people in uni, we could make a difference out, and if we can make just a bit of noise and a few lives easier then it's all worth it!

VOTE CAZZ... please :)
