How To Find The Area of A Parallelogram

How To Find The Area of A Parallelogram Parallelogram is a geometrical shape which can be considered as a type of quadrilateral. In mathematical geometry the great mathematician Mr. Euclidean gave theories on geometrical shapes that help in performing several types of task that are related to mathematics. In the concept of Euclidean geometry, a parallelogram is a type of quadrilateral shape which is specified as a convex quadrilateral. The parallelogram is a geometrical shape that has two pair of parallel sides. These two parallel sides of parallelogram have some properties that are: The opposite or facing sides of the parallelogram has the equal length. The opposite angles of a parallelogram are of equal in measure. A parallelogram can be considered as a convex quadrilateral only in the case when any one of the following statements is true. (a) In the parallelogram if the diagonal of the quadrilateral divides the quadrilateral into congruent triangles with the same size. (b) The opposite sides of the parallelogram are equal in measure.

(c) In the parallelogram, the diagonals of the parallelogram bisect to each other. (d) The opposite angles of the parallelogram are equal in measure. (e) In parallelogram, the sum of the squares of the sides equals to the sum of the squares of the diagonals. (f) In the parallelogram at least one pair of opposite sides are parallel and equal in length. (g) In the parallelogram, the adjacent angle performs as supplementary angles for each other. In geometrical mathematics we can categorize the parallelogram into four types. The types of rhombus are rhomboid, rhombus, rectangle and square. The area of parallelogram can be considered as the number of square units inside the polygons. Area of parallelogram can be calculated when the area is formed on two dimensional plane. A parallelogram is a four sided figure which is formed by two pair of parallel lines. The opposite lines of parallelogram are equal in length and opposite angles are equal in measurement. Like other geometrical shapes surface parallelogram also has the surface area. At that time the question arises in our mind that How to Find the Area of a Parallelogram. To find the area of a parallelogram can be performed by multiplying the base of the parallelogram with the height of the parallelogram, the formula for calculating the area of parallelogram can be written as: Area of parallelogram = Base * height, In the mathematical notation we can represent the notation of area of parallelogram as in below given format:

A = B * H, In above notation A refers to the area of parallelogram and B and H refers to the base and height of the parallelogram respectively. Now we will see process of finding the area of parallelogram by the following example: Example: Find the area of a parallelogram with a base of 12 inches and has the height of 5 inches? Solution: In the above question given that: The value of Base is = 12 inches, The value of height is = 5 inches, So, by applying the formula of area of parallelogram: A = b * h, A = 12 * 5, A = 60 inches2.
