For some reason long ago, people started spreading the poor advise to others with foot problems to soak their feet in hot water, with or without some soaking additive. This is definitely WRONG. Never soak your feet in hot water. Even some whirlpools and spas are too hot for safety. Hot water can cause a dilation of the blood vessels allowing blood clots to move if present. This could result in a stroke or heart attack. Hot water will also cause continued swelling of foot or ankle resulting in continued pain of the foot, ankle or toes. Usually swelling will respond to cool or cold treatments, but if you are a diabetic or have poor circulation, you should see a Podiatrist before doing anything.

BY THOMAS J. MC KILLEN MANAGING EDITOR Gov. Scott Walker was on hand to cut the ribbon for the new Bradley Corp. facility in Germantown July 2. This is just a great opportunity, Walker said of the companys new facility. The facility is 190,000 square feet and is located at N106 W13500 Bradley Way. Work started on the new building in April 2011 and was completed earlier this spring. The facility is the primary manufacturing location for commercial washroom products and has approximately 102 employees. Bradley Corp. has been in business for 91 years and manufactures commercial plumbing fixtures and washroom accessories. The company has been owned by the same family and its corporate headquarters are in Menomonee Falls. Don Mullett, chief executive officer and chairman of Bradley Corp., said the opening of the new facility has been an exciting time for both the company and the family. What weve seen here in the past year or so getting this facility in place is due in part by our government our governors office and our lieutenant governors office who were involved in getting this job through the process, Mullett said. He added that the new facility is designed so that new
Walker noted that when he was elected governor in November 2010, the sign on the podium had the phrase Wisconsin is open for business which he said was intended to send a message to businesses in the state of the coming change in his administration. Weve changed the business climate in this state so that companies like Bradley can grow, can expand and take the risk of having this kind of investment, Walker said. Walker noted that approximately 430 of Bradley Corp. 500 jobs are in the southeast portion of Wisconsin. Were absolutely thrilled with that and our response in return is not just to say thank you and to be here for ribbon cuttings, its to say were going to continue to make it easier for you and your team and all the employees here to continue to create jobs, Walker said. Walker cited an annual survey of Wisconsin employers, in which 10 percent believed the state was moving in the right direction compared to 94 percent earlier this year. He also noted that the state moved from the bottom 10 in a ranking of Chief Executive magazine two years ago to within the top 20 recently. We got to do even more, Walker said. He then advocated getting barriers out of the way to continue to promote business development.

Their other work includes running a book donation, supporting local groups and funding international projects. Education HeroDavid Skip Clark (presented by Prescott Foundation). Clark, who is in his 17th year in the West Bend School District, teaches science, acts as Student Government advisor and helps with a major annual blood drive. I humbly accept this award on behalf of all educators, he said, adding that he has been blessed with great people (in my life) who have always lifted me up. Emergency Response HeroNathanial Dorn (presented by WE Energies Foundation). Dorn, who has spent the last five years working as a Hartford police officer, took the initiative to start a K-9 unit at the department. Due to this and for his efforts of updating all the squad cars, he was recently named Hartford Police Officer of the Year. Dorn described the K-9 project as a long endeavor that I put a lot of work into, but added, in no way do I consider myself a hero...I have the greatest job in the world. I get to help people every day and I get to do that with a dog. Health Care HeroDr. Jeffrey Young and the Verre-Young Eye Clinic (presented by Froedtert Health Medical Group and Froedtert Health St. Josephs Hospital). Young, an ophthalmologist at the Verre-
Thank you to Tony and Red Cross and to all the firefighters who risk their lives every day for people they dont know, Fingar said. Animal HeroWashington County Humane Society (presented by Prudence Pick Hway). Rescuing animals since 1968, the county Humane Society aids close to 3,000 animals each year and stays involved with the community through a variety of educational programs. Marnie Brown, executive director of the Humane Society, gratefully accepted the award. We were surprised to hear we were getting this award for something we do every day, because it is our job, she said. We believe animals deserves our kindness, compassion and respect for all the joy they bring to our lives. As she began the program, Red Cross Community Officer Director Janean Brudvig said the event aligns perfectly with the organizations mission. People counted on you to be there and you were there, she said. When everyone else was rushing out, you were rushing back in.
