Chapter 3 Research Methodology This Chapter presents the research design, population and sampling technique, research procedure,

research instrument and statistical treatment. They serve as the basis of the researchers to achieve their prime goal.

Research Design The descriptive method of research will be use in this study to determine the effectiveness of the system. J.P key of Oklahoma State University (2005), described that Descriptive Research as a method used to obtain information concerning the current status of the phenomena to describe What exist with respect to variable or conditions in a situation. The method involved range from the survey, also the collection of data in orders to test the hypothesis or answer questions concerning the current status subjects of the study. The researchers will gather information data in the library to serve as their references such as theses, and information from the internet. The researchers will utilize the system Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in developing and enhancing all the required information, SDLC is a step by step process in which the researchers will follow during the system analysis and design, it includes five (5) phases: (1) planning: (2) analysis phase, (3) design phase, (4) development phase and (5) evaluation phase.

First the planning phase which will recognize, will diagnose, and define the problem. A study will be conducted to assess the scope of the problem and to prepare a plan of action. Next analysis phase which is gathering information and conducting interviews. It will be followed by the system design, in this part the researcher design the layout and the whole structure of the system. The fourth one is the development phase, in this phase the system will be built and made ready for testing. The system will be presented to the respondents to determine its overall performance. The proponent will further modify the system through trial and error and the system evaluation phase .The E-Tales will be tested to ensure that the designed specifications will be met afterwards final changes and modifications will be incorporated in the system.

Population and Sampling Technique Thirty (30) respondents which will be composed of Employees and Students from Union College School of Integrated Preparatory Studies Sta. Cruz, Laguna will test and evaluate the system in order to know if the to be developed system will achieve its intended goal.

Research Procedure The researcher will use questionnaires that will be distributed to the respondents. The respondents will answer the questionnaires based on their

perception. Afterwards all the data and information needed will be gathered. The proponents will have to conceptualize the systems in terms of its system usability, system design, error-handling and user friendliness. All data will be tabulated and computed using a spread sheet application, particularly Microsoft Excel. Then the final output will be forwarded to the statistician for proper checking of results.

Figure2. Flowchart of the steps in Research Procedures

Fig. 2 illustrates the steps in research procedures. First the researchers will seek permission for the evaluation of the system. After the system will be developed the system will be installed. The software will then be tested to prove the achievements of its goals. Then it will be evaluated, the questionnaires will be distributed to the respondents. Afterwards the questionnaires will be collected to them for tabular analysis and interpretation.

Research Instrument A questionnaire checklist will be prepared in order to know the respondents perception regarding the system. The respondents will rate the system with the following criteria.

5 Strongly Agree 4 Agree 3 Moderately Agree 2 Disagree 1 Strongly Disagree

Statistical Treatment Weighted mean and standard deviation will be used to determine the level of the perception of the respondents on the performance of the software in terms of usability, design, error handling, and user friendliness. The proponents will have to employ the application of the MS Excel for the computation of the mean and standard deviation.
