The Mullet Are Coming! The Mullet Are Coming!

Well, not quite yet. They are still swimming free awaiting their turn to grace our dinner table on Labor Day at the Optimist Clubs 26th annual Mullet Festival. The Mullet Festival is our most financially rewarding fund raiser in our efforts to help "our kids" and requires the most support from our members to make it happen. President Bill has tabulated approximately 250 individual tasks required to make the Mullet Festival a success. With approximately 130 members, many people will be asked to help on two or more functions. It is a fun-filled day for the community members who attend as well as for us. The race committee is already in full swing as is the T-shirt sponsor committee. Members are selling their raffle tickets. Other committees are in work, but there are still many openings for help, especially on the day of the Mullet Festival. One of the successful Mullet Festival events is the "yard sale". Start looking for items you no longer use that are in good and salable condition. President Bill will be having

a full briefing with sign up sheets at our regular meeting on July 28. The Illuminating Autism fund raiser was successful. Food sales made a profit thanks to the hard work of Cliff Collier and his crew and a record number of raffle tickets were sold. The Fashion Show fund raiser is coming up on 21 July. Ask either Marcia Little, Emma Fell or Margaret Schaff if there is something you can do to help. This is always a fun event. As hurricane season seems to be on us early this year, be safe. Are you ready for some fun, food and fashions? Its a day for family and friends, sharp new fashions and plenty of delicious food. Female members, start lining up your tables and selling tickets to everyone you know. Gentlemen, be sure to encourage your wives and the special women in your life to plan on attending. Its a fund raiser, but its also a fun way to meet new people and enjoy a summer afternoon. BTW, men are most welcome to attend!

They met at an Optimist meeting doing kitchen duty, so it was only natural that they be married at a meeting. On June 9, while surrounded by family and fellow Optimists, Barbara Dixon and Hugh Myers tied the knot.

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself:
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. O.I.
