Programme of events War on the Line Saturday 14th July and Sunday 15th July 2012. Saturday 9.

30am Military vehicles depart Bishop Auckland station for a drive around the town centre before heading to Stanhope. 10.00am. Events starts at Stanhope Station (DL13 2YS) and the adjacent playing field, with Military vehicles, re-enactors & dioramas, Living History displays, militaria stalls and charity stalls. 10.00am Step this Way, Appalachian Clog dancers performance. 10.30am Allied forces convoy arrives from Bishop Auckland. 10.30am Evacuees leave Stanhope Station for pastures new. Come and wave them off on their journey, or travel with them on the train. 11.00am Northern World War 2 Association weapons demonstration. 11.30am Evacuees arrive and are greeted by their new guardians. 11.45am Punch & Judy. Entertainment for the young troops. 12.00 noon. Spot On! Three part harmony vocal singers with familiar songs from the 1940s. 12.30pm Step this Way Appalachian Clog dancers performance. 1.30pm Spot On! With more songs from the 1940s. 2.00pm Punch & Judy. Entertainment for the young troops. 2.15pm Fashion show in the marquee. 3.00pm Northern World War 2 Association weapons demonstration. Watch out for George Formby who will be entertaining you with his ukulele on the platform and on the trains. (Saturday and Sunday) Call in at the Lineside Cinema, Stanhope Station for 1940s news reels and films, presented by the North East Theatre Organ Association. (Saturday and Sunday) 7.00pm 1940s Dance at St Thomas Church Hall, Stanhope DL13 2UE. Tickets 8.00 each, which includes food. Licensed Bar available. Live entertainment from the Spot On! Girls plus 1940s disco Hitz from the Blitz. Tickets available from Jo Brown at Stanhope Station on 01388 526203.

Sunday 10.00am Event starts. 10.15am Church Service led by the Salvation Army. Please join us, all are welcome. 10.30am Evacuees leave Stanhope Station for pastures new. An enhance train service will be operated on both days by the Weardale Railway with trains from Stanhope to Wolsingham and Bishop Auckland and return. See special War on the Line timetable and prices. Visitors are encouraged to wear period dress. Please note all times are approximate. The organisers reserve the right to cancel or amend any part of the War on the Line weekend event. Throughout the day, the vehicle owners and various groups will be willing to talk to you about their kit, vehicles and uniforms. Go along and meet them, and they will be pleased to talk to you. Visit the stalls, travel on the trains, but more importantly ENJOY YOURSELVES, and please come again next year. Dates for your diary : 13th & 14th July 2013. War on the Line 2012 is a joint venture between Weardale Railways CIC, Northern World War 2 Association and the Military Vehicle Trust Durham & Tees Valley group.
