2tog = Crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)

4. With contrasting yarn, make long stitches on top of head. 5. With black yarn, sew a smiley mouth. (Note: Leave the long piece of yarn for trimming the zipper - DO NOT cut or weave in) Head is complete now to work on body.

Attaching the Zipper: 1. Trim the zipper to 2-1/2 (or the length of your completed body.) Measure from the center top all the way down to bottom part of body. If you can find a 3 metal zipper, that would be ideal, but I found it difficult to find. I used a 4" zipper and used metal cutting scissors to trim the metal portion of the zipper. I trimmed the sides down as well. I found it easier to glue the zipper down to the body. This way there are no stitch marks. 2. Pin the zipper to the body with the top part of the zipper (just above the metal flap) fitted over the top part of the body. When you place the head it will not show. 3. Sew the head on to the body - the top part of the zipper should be concealed when the head is sewn. 4. Attach head firmly. 5. Apply a liberal amount of glue on to the back of the zipper and press down against the body. 6. Hold down for a few seconds. Keep pressing the zipper down intermittently. Make sure all edges are glued. Allow to dry. 7. Apply a thin strip of glue right at the edges of the zipper all around use a toothpick to apply the glue. (See Fig 1) 8. Use the yarn left from attaching the head - you will glue this yarn at the edge of the zipper. This will finish the edges and prevent fraying. Press down firmly and allow to dry. (See Fig 2)
