New Testament

The following are over 1,580 "verses of interest" from the New Testament based on the New King James version, copyright 1982. Most versions of the New Testament of the Bible have 27 books, 260 chapters, 7,956 verses, and 181,253 words. Not all versions of the Bible are the same, with differences in the selection of books between Catholic (73 total books in the Old and New Testaments) and Protestant (66 books total in the Old and New Testaments) sects. In the 1952 edition of the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, 32 biblical scholars of the highest eminence backed by 50 cooperating denominations eliminated certain verses (including the Comma Johanneum, 1 John 5:7-8) as fabrications, only to have them added back in the 1971 edition due to public pressure from 2 of the denominations to re-insert the fabrications. CLASSIFICATION: * = notable verses, ** = verses to remember, *** = debate points, ***** = verses about Divinity. RANKING: # = minor verses, ### = major verses, #### = historical references, ##### = crucial verses.
