RESEARCH
Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, usually using a scientific method.
RESEARCH METHOD Research Method is a way of collecting inputs and finding the outputs, to conduct your research successfully.
Research methods can be of the following types: 1. Questionnaire 2. Interview 3. Observation 4. Surveys
QUESTIONAIRE A questionnaire, whether it is called a schedule, interview form, or measuring instrument, is a formalized set of questions for obtaining information from respondents.
OBJECTIVES OF QUESTIONAIRE:
1. Translate the information to the respondents. 2. It must uplift, motivate and encourage the respondent 3. It should minimize respondent errors.
INTERVIEW
Interview is a systematic method by which a person enter more or less imaginatively into the life of comparative stranger.
ADVANTAGES OF INTERVIEW
1. Interview is a social contact to study human behavior.
2.
3.
4.
OBSERVATION
Observation is a recording of behavioral pattern of people, object and event in a systematic manner to obtain information.
ADVANTAGES OF OBSERVATION
1. On the spot study. 2. No reporting biases. 3. Cheaper & faster. 4. More reliable.
SURVEYS
Survey is used in empirical or exploratory type of research, usually used in business studies. You can use questionnaires or even interview some specific group of people to get your research result.
ADVANTAGES OF SURVEYS
1. Surveys are relatively inexpensive. 2. It is an efficient way of collecting information from a large
number of respondents 3. They can be administered from remote locations using mail, email or telephone.(easy to administer) 4. Standardized questions make measurement more precise by enforcing uniform definitions upon the participants and free from several types of errors.
CONCLUSION
There are a number of ways in which you can complete your study. You can use one or all of the methods, but consider time required and what it is you hope to find. A clear idea before you start will save you time in both design and analysis. If you dont have a clear objective it is very unlikely that you will reach an insightful conclusion. How have others approached similar problems to yours, look at past research
