Aims
Broad statement about the intent of education
They are value-laden statements, written by panels,

commissions, or policy-making groups, that express a philosophy of education and concepts of the social role of schools and the needs of the children and youth

Aims
Aims, sometimes called purposes, are written on a

societal level
They are descriptive and vaguely written statement.

Goals
Goals make it possible to organize learning

experiences in terms of what the state, school district, or school plans to stress on a system wide basis
Goals provide direction for educators, but they do not

specify achievement levels or proficiency skills


Goals are non-observable and non-measurable

Objectives
Objectives are descriptions of what is to eventually

take place at the class room level


They specify content and sometimes the proficiency

level to be attained
Objectives are stated in behavioral term

Program Objective
Program objectives stem from the goals of the school

and are written at the subject and grade level


Like goals, they refer to the accomplishments of all

students, rather than to those of individual students.

Course Objective
Course objectives are derived from program objectives
Course objective are stated in the form of topics,

concepts, or general behavior.

Classroom Objective
Classroom objectives are usually formulated by the

teacher
Classroom objectives divide course objectives into

several units

Lesson Plan Objective


Objectives are first step in writing a strong lesson plan
Lesson plan objective need to be specific.

Unit Plan Objective


Provides opportunity to stimulate student interest through

overarching content that is relevant to the students


Consider what content will engage your student given their

interest and background


Content is most likely to be organized coherently when it is

selected in a principle way, guided by ideas about what


student should learn from studying the topic
