SCHEDULE is a time table showing planned

work days and shift for nursing personnel FACTORS CONSIDERED IN MAKING SCHEDULE
Different level of nursing staff Adequate coverage for 24 hours, seven days a

week, vacations, holiday weekends, evening and night shifts and floating Long stretches of working days should be avoided Busy unit may require additional help Un scheduled absences

In order to minimize similar problems as a

result of emergency assignments, crosstraining and/or orientation to complimentary units are recommended During orientation to the Nursing Service, new nurses are informed of the possibility that they may be asked to relieve in areas other than their regular assignment Emphasis, however is given to the fact that cross training enhances their skills and capabilities aside from meeting the needs of the service, 9/4/12

ROTATING WORK SHIFTS


There is equal share of morning, afternoon

and night shifts as prolong night shift may affect the health of the personnel Many nurses preferred to work during morning shift but it is given most frequently to Senior Nurses Too frequent or daily changes in work shifts and in varying shifts may cause stress in many personnel as their body rhythm will be affected
