Challenges Before The Sector

The major challenges facing us in formulating policy for the Eleventh Plan Climate Zone : Climate change and agriculture Global warming have significant impacts on agriculture Including temperature, carbon dioxide, glacial runoff, precipitation

Challenges Before The Sector

1. Hot and Dry - Very high daytime temperatures - short and mild winter season

E.g.- Rajasthan, Gujarat 2. Cold and Sunny - There is very little precipitation - temperatures vary greatly between the day and night - summer to winter. E.g.- Laddhak

Challenges Before The Sector

3. Warm and Humid - High humidity, strong sun, glare from the sky and horizon characterize this climate. - There are long monsoon periods with heavy rain. E.g.- Trivandrum, Coastal Areas/ North East

Challenges Before The Sector

Technology :-

1. Drip Irrigation Technology :- The irrigated area consists of about 36 per cent of presently. - Increasing competition with the other water users in future - limit the water availability for expanding irrigated area

Challenges Before The Sector

2. Harvester :The combine harvester, or simply combine, is a machine that harvests grain crops combines three separate operations, reaping, threshing, and winnowing

Challenges Before The Sector

AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH - An orientation of public sector research in hybrid development with commercial viability

Challenges Before The Sector

PRICE POLICY
-The major objective of indian govt policy to protect both producer & consumer - in the context of globalization tariff policy has become important -supply and demand there tariff should be fix and need of balance between producer price and consumer price is required - Their policy challenges to achieving goals both supply and demand side are important

MARKETING
-For small and marginal farmer there is main problem of marketing -The farmer have many risk of market failure and production problem While growing a crop

-Most important problem for farmer is output price fluctuations .there is a big gap between producer price and consumer price. Farmer get only 30% of the consumer
-The real challenge lies an organizing the small and marginal former for marketing and linking them to high value agriculture
