Non-Green Computing
IT industry accounts for 2% of Global CO2 emission same as Aviation
Energy Calculation:
1.8 Tons of Chemicals ( including Fossil oils, Water) a PC Volatile Organic Compound (AC lab, Room Freshener in Computer Center)

Non-Green Computing
20 billion KW every year as PC not urned off overnight
1.8 tons of Co2

Non-Green Printing
1 ton of paper a4 size 17 trees cut 3000 liters of water 3.3 cubic yards of land fill 1 metric ton of gas: Printing Toner with toxic chemicals Electricity used is enough to power a typical house for 6 months Lot of birds lose their homes 10000 sheets per use by an IT user: Cut the cost by cutting the paper into half

The US uses more than 500 billion liters of freshwater water each day for to cool down electric power plants.
Biggest user of freshwater is the IT industry. To produce one computer, we need about 50 liters of pure fresh water
besides bottled water for daily use
Dehydration (lack of water) will kill us faster than starvation (lack of food) freshwater supply is only about 3% of the total world supply. if all of the worlds water is poured into a cup, drinkable be half a teaspoon!

GE is all about
getting more (performance)
from less
(resources)
for more
(people) --and not just for more profit

In other words..
- Gandhian Engineering is using engineering and technology to create more with less - to exchange expensive solutions for less expensive solutions yet resulting in a superior technology.

Implementing TGP
Zonbu, is the first completely eco-responsible computer that emits zero percent carbon consumes only 15W of power compared to 75W to 270W consumed by normal desktops Intel Atom Processor: 37W only FIT-PC Laptop just 5W Gandhi said: Go To Villages
Now IT companies and organizatons move to villages for many reasons like cost cuts, increased productivity, cheaper resources But need to green rather than eco-damage in the computer center and labs Plants absorbs pollution and CO2 emission but releases O2.

Green IT 2 ways
1. To Green the IT itself 2. To Green the ecology using IT to save the environment To reduce energy consumption, usage of hazardous materials Green Tools
to be environment friendly
to minimize global warming and pollution Research: making the use of computers as energyefficient,

Green Ergonomics
BE A DEEP BREATHER
Your back should be straight and your shoulders held back, with the top of the monitor level with your eyes. If you have to look down or up then you need to adjust the height of your screen. Also make sure your wrists do not lie on the keyboard or mouse mat.
You probably already do this without realising but it is important to keep stretching your arms, legs, neck and torso while sitting.
Roll your shoulders back and forward and your neck from side to side. Stand up and walk around every half hour, if possible. This will help maintain good blood circulation in your arms and legs. Every 30 minutes shift your focus from the computer screen to other subjects in the room such as a window or clock. Shifting your focus and regular eye movement lessens the risks of eye irritation and headaches.
