Occasions When Ghusl Is Sunnah And
Recommended



It is Sunnah to perform the major bath on four occasions:

1) Friday prayer

2) Both Eid prayers

3) For the Ihraam

4) For the one performing Hajj to bath at Arafah after the sun passes
the merdian.


Occasions When Ghusl Is Recommended

It is recommended to perform the major bath on 16
occasions:

1)It is recommended for a person accepting Islam
while free from a major ritual impurity


2) One who matures by age

3) A person who recovers from insanity

4) After cupping (Hijamah)


5) After washing a dead body

6) On Shab-e-Barath / 15th Shabaan (night of immunity)

7) On the night of power (Layla-tul-Qadr) if one witnesses it.

8) Upon entering the city of the Prophet (s.a.w)


9) The standing in Muzdalifah at dawn time on the day of
Sacrifice (10th Dhul Hijjah)

10) When entering Makkah for Tawaf / Tawaf-e-Ziyarah

11 12) For the prayer of solar and lunar eclipse.


13) Prayer when seeking rain

14) Prayer arising from fear.

15) Prayer for overwhelming darkness during daylight.

16) Prayer due the presence of strong wind.
