GRANT A STAR
Stars may be purchased during lunch March 25 29 for $1 to be placed on a banner for the Grant A Starr Foundation which is raising support for genetic research to enable quick identification of infectious agents that affect young children.

DODGE BALL
PALs is sponsoring a dodge ball tournament to raise money for the ASPCA on Wednesday March 27th in the gym at CHS. Packets can be picked up at lunch or from Mrs. Sparwasser in room 2103 with more information. Registration is due by Friday, March 22nd along with $30. Teams of six must include at least two girls. Spectators are welcome to watch this exciting event for only $1.

DECA ALWAYS WINS!!!!!!


80 qualifiers to Internationals in California (beating our own record for most ever from last year at 44). Ziyaad Khayrattee won the DECA State President for next year. We became the Largest DECA chapter in the WORLD!

YEARBOOK NEXT YEAR???


Yearbook Informational Meeting will be held in the Yearbook Room, 2810, on Wednesday, March 27th at 2:45. Mrs. Mayo will go over the expectations and requirements for the class. If you are wanting to be on the Silver Bullet Yearbook Staff, please come to the meeting. If you have any questions, please stop by room 2810 to see Mrs. Mayo.

JETS ADVANCE TO STATE


The JETS competed at the Northlake College Regional Science Olympiad Competition where they placed 1st and 3rd overall. They won 13 of the 22 events that were offered. They will compete in the state tournament on May 3rd.

PALS
There will be a mandatory meeting for all students who are interested in applying to be a part of the PAL program for next year. It will be held in room 2103 (Mrs. Sparwassers room) on Tuesday April 2nd at 2:40PM and Wednesday, April 3rd at 6:45 AM. You must attend one of the meetings and be a junior or senior next year in order to apply.

SPEECH TEAM
Representatives of the Clements Academic Speech Team have qualified to compete at the National Tournament of the National Forensic League June 16-21 in Birmingham, Alabama. Students qualified through competition at the East Texas NFL District Tournament held February 28 through March 2 where Clements won the sweepstakes award. Qualifying students are: Sarah Bernardo International Extemporaneous Speaking (1st) (after receiving 1st place in each of the 6 rounds held prior to the final round) Diane Sun United States Extemporaneous Speaking (2nd) Ashley Chen and Mustafa Shekhani Public Forum Debate

VASE RESULTS
Clements art students had incredible results again this year at their regional UIL VASE competition! They competed by discussing their thought process and techniques in a personal interview, as well as by artwork evaluation. 2013 FBISD VASE Results:

29 of the 45 state-bound art students are from Clements!

SPEECH NEWS
The Clements High School Chapter of the National Forensic League (NFL), an honor society for secondary speech and debate students, has recently earned membership in the prestigious 400 Club. Among the top one percent of NFL chapters nationwide, Clements is one of two Texas schools to hold membership in this club which includes twenty one schools.

HOUSTON SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION


Ryan Brophy won the competition with a brilliant performance of a monologue from Macbeth and recitation of Sonnet #130. Ryan won a $200 cash prize and an all expense paid trip to New York City in midApril to compete against 60 70 other high school students.
