both cooperation and competition among various stockholders to resolve any organizational conflicts by improved decision making and generation of alternative solutions High

Organizational Effectiveness Low Level of Conflict

In terms of Thomsons model of technology, there is a reciprocal task

interdependence between sales and production departments and hence the degree to which one subunit directly affect the actions of other department
BMCs way of monitoring, evaluating and rewarding sales and production

departments is different highlighting that they have an incompatible performance criteria which is an important source for the conflict

Organizational Conflict(contd)
According to Louis R.Pondys model of organizational conflict,

BMC is facing a felt conflict and slightly moving towards a manifest conflict with both the VPs at loggerheads and having developed a us-versus-them approach Friction between production and sales was spilling over into other areas as well and the morale of management in general was also suffering Leadership training sessions planned to resolve the strategy also couldnt solve the problem Even the interference of President also didnt seem fruitful and couldnt evoke accurate forecasts Conflict needs to be resolved before moving to the manifest phase where subunits willingly frustrate the goals of other department by not doing anything and to provide a positive conflict aftermath
