Training Report On Industrial Automation

DESIGN BY: ER.SHASHI BHUSAN SAHOO

What is AUTOMATION?
Art of making processor or machines self-acting or self moving. Need of AUTOMATION? Higher Productivity. Greater Reliability. Lesser Defect. Cost-Effectiveness.

Main Constitute of Automation?

PLC.
SCADA.

HMI,s.
Drives.

What is a PLC? PLC is a Controller which was Invented to Replace the Sequential Relay Ckt. It can be Programmed According to the Process.

Why to use PLC'S? Previously Relay Based Automation was Available but i.e. not Desirable.

Introduction to SCADA
What is SCADA

SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition. It allows an operator to control and monitor processes.

MAIN FEATURES OF SCADA

Real time and Historical Trending

Data Logging

Alarms management

Friendly graphic user interface

What is HMI?

HMI stands for Human Machine Interface.

Operator will feed the required data to the PLC via HMI Used if the data required is varying randomly.

DRIVES
BASICALY DRIVES ARE USED FOR FOLLOWING PURPOSES
ENERGY SAVING MOTOR PROTECTION SPEED CONTROL

AC DRIVE USED FOR ENERGY SAVING, MOTOR PROTECTION , SPEED CONTROL

As we know the speed ,frequency relation

Ns=120*frequency/number of poles

SPEED = FREQUENCY
As the number of poles will be constant in running condition and 120 Is also a constant term, so speed can be vary through frequency Only, and frequency can be change through DRIVE that is why DRIVE is also called VARIABLE

FREQUENCY DRIVE

100 % power 25 %
